They can’t pull a mega thread together for the LSU shenanigans?

I can't even tell what is happening. It is just a thousand troll and melt and cope threads. Who knows?

I try to stay away from that place as much as I can. I tried to go over and read some today and I got to like 3 topics and said nope.

The SEC voted for the rule. LSU abstained.
My questions are reality.
What were these getting paid NIL wise?
What prompted them to go Pro?
It’s obvious no one wanted them.
What are they being offered NIL wise now?
Set a ruling. Something like banned from all SEC results for the season and bring the legal action to Birmingham and out of the gay bars in Mardis Gra.
No Judges getting club seats in Deaf Valley for the season.

They completed their 4 years of eligibility and went on to the NFL, played preseason, and were cut for the 53 man roster.
The NCAA made a new rule over the Summer. Players will now have 5 years of eligibility starting either when they enroll in college or the semester after their 19th birthday. I think this was a nice rule that makes eligibility simpler without redshirts, medical redshirts, and etc. This rule does not apply to those that have already used their eligibility up. Which makes sense, those players played their last year and moved on.
A judge, in Colorado (I think), made a ruling that this 5 for 5 not fair for players that just ended their eligibility. So now players in mid summer can join teams.
LSU took it further and poached guys they thought might not make the 53 man roster. And are adding them the week or week before games start.
SEC and the members are drawing the line at players coming back from an NFL contract. Which I think is not just about the current season, but it opening a whole new can of worms for the future.
I think now is a fight on if SEC can enforce this rule, while players or players’ attorneys are saying it violates their rights.
That’s what I take away from it all. But I’m kind of sick of it all and just want to watch some football.

Yeah. It’s a mess. People blame the NCAA, but their hands are always forced by lawyers and judges. NIL was forced in courts. Courts forced the transfer portal to how it is. Now they are forcing increased eligibility.

Congress has a bill out of committee. We’ll see how far that goes.

The NCAA refused to consider the possibility of paying athletes for decades. The money involved got too big so the players went around the NCAA and to the courts to get us where we are now.
If at any point in the past, the NCAA had tried to constructively work with players there would probably have been a basic set of rules and something approaching a CBA. We'll get there in time, but with a total wild west era until then.

It was honestly not looking too bad. Then it went in committee and added a bunch of for/against trans political stuff and that will probably be enough to kill bipartisan support.

Maybe but doubtful. One way or another we would have ended up here. Fact is there is a lot of money around and a lot of entitlement in our society. From little league in podunk Alabama all the way to the west coast. As the critical pillars of amateurism fall I bet CFB is no more within 10 years.

College football is basically dead to me because of nonsense like this. Things are worse than they were before the Ivies and the U. of Chicago gutted their programs for corruption back in the late 30’s through mid-40’s. Things have gotten so bad Id like to see athletic scholarships and any kind of compensation banned completely. Wanna play for your school? Get admitted on your own dime, and good luck at spring tryouts.

unfortunately the schools are hooked on the money that bigtime football (and to a lesser extent mens basketball) brings in, and theyll never give up that sweet coin
probably couldn’t even if they wanted to, all that debt incurred with staff salaries and facilities improvements has to be serviced somehow

If you are talking about the NFL folks or better description the folks of 2022 who didn't get the extra COVID year or the 5 year rule, this affects about 40 or so players from the class of 2022 and some may have left to go to the NFL and didn't make a team, who still have about a year left and that is what this case was about. They were stuck in the middle of the COVID year players and the 5 year ruling players. Sucks that a state or federal judge can make a ruling that affects the entire country...

When SACS, NCAA, and the FBI arrested Cam, Chizik, and all of us co-conspirators it was amazing.
Seriously, the were legions devoted to our downfall. At SECCG I saw hundreds of Gamecocks in “Scam Newton” t-shirts.
I hope that shirt was flavored so they could suck it after that beatdown.
