1. We’ve been choked out by UGA/UA/LSU recruiting oline and true RB talent 2. Coaches know how to stop Gus and his offense and he can not adapt nor overpower them due to #1 3. Negative recruiting on offense due to Our style offense.... it’s a continuing circle

There are a lot of good olines out there besides those three. I think a bigger problem was not having backup plans after missing on top target, and only ending up taking 0-1 online recruits in a given year.

I understand we are in a league with top teams.

I also think we are overpaying relative to results.

Gus is certainly a top 25 coach, but he’s getting paid top 10 money.

If I were recruiting against Gus for a player, I'd point out the whirlybird, and pulling guards against a goal line defense. After last night, I would also show how he calls deep-arse passes on 3rd and 4.

He sets the player up to lose.

Man, tell me about it.

I was so... when we got the ball back w/ under 2 mins in the half, and I hoped we would try to move the ball down for a last minute fg at least.

His first 2 calls were fine, including a dropped pass by Schwartz.

But that 3rd down and 4...why the H would he call a low percentage deep pass to Schwartz? The situation called for a high percentage pass that would simply get us a first down, to THEN maybe attempt that pass on 1st or 2nd down.

It caused us to only use about 30 secs on the clock and ofc the rest is a poor punt coverage and a long return to our 23.

This is why we know Gus doesn't know the situation, and how to manage the passing game, especially w a TF.

Geez..now you got me going again...even on SUnday. :)

This season and last have been down years for RB talent for sure, but next year we'll be pretty loaded. DJ, MAR, Tank, upperclassmen Whitlow, and Shivers. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one transfer before the start of next season.

But yeah, OL next year is worrisome to the point where it's a genuine concern that all that RB talent may be wasted, and and hope of improvement by Nix gone because they'll get no protection. It's a genuine concern the OL will be Sun Belt quality next year

But we may get a high end grad transfer from the sunbelt conference, so we may be high end sun belt quality

Bo Jackson in his prime, would have difficulty getting yards with this line. Considering they are apparently the best we have, and they are all seniors, next year looks bleak.

I bet Shivers and Joiner move on. Whitlow, DJ and Tank could get most of the carries. Shivers is getting some carries and doing OK with them but Whitlow is still our best back right now. Hopefully we get him back for UGA

Hated to see Joiner fumble on his only carry last night. After everyone was biding so hard for more carries. Looks like the wheel route is his play.

DJ Williams has pretty clearly shown himself to be more talented over the last couple weeks

I posted this in the 7-2 thread, but this years OL isn't fully responsible for the passing game. They create a great pocket. Bo just bails on it. Now run blocking is suspect.

I think he is built better for us and will certainly be better in the end but right now, I still say Whitlow is #1. He has been pretty money for us the past two years. I just think people forget about it while he is not playing and DJ is doing well. If Whitlow can get healthy before next week, it will be nice having both of them.

The OL is not very good, and next year we get the back ups to the OL with a hopeful junior college transfer or two sprinkled in.

If we think this offense is bad wait until 2020. 2020 is the last year of Gus and I think most fans know this which is a reason for the lack of excitement over a 7-2 team going into two huge rivalry games.

I feel as if this is the high point of the next few years and the downward track begins on 11/16.

It seems that Gus had him right where he was suppose to be.

Fumbles just dont happen in games. My bet is that he has had ball security issues in practice which is one of the reason he has not be utilized more in the running game.

I thought all the backs did decent last night. Even Martin had some good physical carries.

I was so ready to scream at the TV when he was on the field, but yeah I agree with you.

I agree that the next two years do not look bright but I just am not going to worry about that right now. We are a good team right now overall and I am going to enjoy the rest of the season with this team. I have been watching Auburn longer than most on this board have been alive and I have said what you said above too many times. Next year will suck, who will we play? But many times, guys step up.

Im not going to melt over next year until this years melt is over

We are a two back, run, play action offense that will throw it 44 times.

Doesn’t make sense.
