He needs to not try and block every shot. Trying to block your man’s shot is obviously fine, but he frequently would come help and try to get a block and when he missed his man got easy boards.
Yep, when he left the paint to "help", it seemed to always yield a easy at the rim score.

They do funnel to him like they did Kessler on defense. So puts him in the spot to be the rim protector. We play more straight up defense when Broome is in. But we do leverage on defense to our centers

Reading a few Pearl quotes from media days:

“The bad thing is when the ball gets tossed, our five guys may not be that much better than anybody else's five guys. But when I go to the bench, I'm not dropping off. I'm different, but I'm not dropping off.”

“We've got so much parity, so much competition in each position,..."

“We will have a 10-man rotation,” Pearl said. “Yeah, I've got some tough decisions to make.”

Bruce Pearl says the reality moving forward will be bringing in "one or two" high school players and then filling the roster with transfers.

Open Practice is tomorrow for anyone who wants to go.

I'm also expecting a "secret" scrimmage with a Big 12 team sometime before the season.... because dats the trend with the conference members recently

We are CLOSE!

There were some clips I saw. Reports sounded like both PGs were good. With that said it also sounds like guys were putting on a bit of a show for the crowd. I mean you had Broome throwing a fast break lob off the backboard to one of the guys. If that happens in a game I might have a stroke

Different strokes for different folks but I would have an orgasm

If it was successful I might too. Not sure my heart would last long enough to make it to the completion of the dunk though.

I did not go but al.com reports it was 3 ea 10 min periods. First period was a mix of Bruces's 10 man rotation against the scout team. Next period was "starters against the bench". Starters: Tre, Denver, CMo, Chaney and Johni. Not sure if the "bench" was the remaining 5 of the 10 man rotation but the bench won 24-15. Third period CBM took over SF from CMo and Jaylin took over PF from Chaney. Bench won this one 30-24.

Apparently shooting overall was above average. But I agree with others, this sounded more like a scrimmage for the fans. Would love to hear the perspective from a hoops fan about the chemistry and how cohesive they seem as a team. Bruce sure seems to like them and I tend to think the removal of Green and Flanigan was a good thing from a locker standpoint.

IMO, the Baylor game will be a toss up. Baylor comes in with a good freshman although most of their players starting and on the bench are Freshmen and Sophomores. A bunch of inexperience within this BU lineup. If we shoot as well or better as we did in our recent open practice, we'll be in good shape to defeat Baylor.

There's a pretty realistic chance we sweep our decent OOC schedule. The three teams I think are the best in that slate are: BU, USC and Indiana.

We have a pretty tough OOC schedule, if we sweep then we are legit. Baylor game 1 we are likely the underdog

To be honest, I don't really view our OOC schedule as tough outside of the three really good teams we play.

The best teams outside those three are UNC Asheville and Notre Dame.

I can't sleep on the rest of them though, I learned that last season

All legit toss ups:

Baylor
USC
Notre Dame
Indiana
Virginia Tech - I know they’re bad but they come to AU when school is out of session.

Yeah (ew)

Notre Dame

That's where I disagree. Notre Dame was absolutely horrible last season, only winning 11 games (3 conference wins). Their recruiting class is solid and they have a first year HC (although he is pretty good). They'll improve but they won't be great.

Indiana

Yep

I could see your point Riggo, but I disagree. VT hasn't improved...
