It was about the hindrance of playing a conference tournament final on Sunday.

Maybe one day the SEC will stop being idiots and move the tournament up a day. The selection committee chairperson went on a podcast after selection Sunday to explain the seedings. He stated a few schools moved up a seed line because of winning their conference tourney. He also said they had their seedings set Saturday and the AQ’s made them make some changes on Sunday. He also was pressed why Auburn didn’t move up a seed line for winning their conference tourney and he had no answer.

I wonder if CBM was set up by Yale hitting his throat the previous play knowing he wouldn't be able to resist retaliating. I suspect that they knew that if they goaded him that he's go off of the reservation.

Yale played a conf tourney final on Sunday as well.

We got screwed in seeding.,, it’s 2024… no reason to be using a committee to decide anything when literally thousands of data points are being considered. That said, we should’ve won the game.

Another funny exchange from that podcast with the selection committee chairman was that he said the committee put the least amount of value in home wins and the most in true road wins because “you don’t play at home in the tourney.” The host retorted, “you don’t play true road games either, why aren’t neutral site games valued the most?” His response was, “that’s a good point, I guess we didn’t think about that.”

Just sounds like a bunch of people who aren’t that invested in it.

It’s sad really. Thing is no body cares enough to make them change. The committee give people in media something to talk about for a few days leading up to tourney.

It’s 2024… we have the ability to take human error out of the equation.

100%. And Nate Oats was seen walking into their locker room to celebrate after the game. No doubt he did their “scout.”

It’s odd to me the committee is comprised of a lot of ADs that work for schools playing in the tournament.

I’m glad we go to Maui next year. Really thought our pre-season schedule this year would be revealing but it didn’t challenge us enough other than Baylor. Won’t have that problem next year

Do you think we have a pretty good team next year?

I think even with the portal additions our team wont be as solid as this year.

This was the best team Bruce has had top to bottom IMO. That’s why this one is so tough.

Agreed, probably even including his time at UT. Next years team won’t be as good unless we strike absolute gold in the portal. I guess the plus is that we are adding a supposed stud (not guaranteed but seems like it) at guard that we just didn’t have this year at all. Overall, hard to see us having a team so well rounded next year. Like Smoke said that’s why I’m still not close to over it 2 days later.

I think this was honestly the most consistent Auburn team I have ever rooted for in any sport since 2004

I agree with that statement. I guess the biggest negative was they weren’t the most experienced in tight situations because there weren’t a ton of them. That probably showed more than anything else.

That’s another thing I’d like Pearl to take note of when scheduling going forward. Tougher schedule will bring more close games and will help grow the guards up for nut crunch time. I’m not even sold our guards can’t be good late in big games they just haven’t had enough reps doing it yet
