I don't think it's anytime soon.

Especially since the G-league is just now going to play some type of schedule in November, after their season was cancelled.

Even if he commits to us, we know that doesn't mean anything if he decides to wait to sign until next year, which gives him time to decide on the G_league.

I expect JS is going to see how the newest HS G-League guys fair in the coming months(Green and Kuminga) to gauge if he wants to go that route.

One thing that MIGHT help us out, is if some of the top college players can gain some revenue by this NCAA decision to allow college players to profit off their likeness.

The key is whether or not it's after the draft. If Green and Kuminga go lottery and guys like Sotto and Isaiah Todd go higher than anticipated, it will be very tempting.

Jabari tweeted he is 110% committed to Auburn. Sounds good. The combo of Jabari and Thor at PF with their different bodys and style will be a sight to see.

Awesome news, forgive me for my ignorance but I don't really keep up with basketball recruiting much. It seems like after him we aren't really in with many other top recruits in his class at all. Am I missing something?

We’re only taking 2 recruits this cycle, iirc

We can only sign 2 this season. So 2-3 players and that would be asking someone to go after this season.

Our top 2 were Jabari and JD Davison. We got Jabari and lost out on Davison.

We will identify another PG/CG/SG and see who we can land. I think we will be picky on the next unless someone just is ready to commit now.

My opinion is we were only going to get 3 players if JD and Jabari committed. I think we will go with 2 now.

Would be kinda nice just to wrap up 2021 recruiting by finding a good fit 3-4 year player at the 1 or 2 and then going balls to the wall on 2022 recruiting.

Agreed. A high potential solid working combo guard sounds good to me. Unless they plan to make Powell a permanent combo. A cambridge type player but with handles. However i think it will be the '23 class before we are able to go balls to the wall again just by the numbers.

Just an example and not sure Bruce would want to deal with it but Zaire Wade would be a good match at CG. Not a pro prospect at this point at all. Would bring even more intrigue and excitement on name recognition and his Dad would probably push him to work his tail off.

For those that don't know that's D. Wade's son.

Zaire is supposedly an awesome kid. Just not sure he’s a top prospect without his family pedigree. I think his offers bear that out

He’s the kind of kid that Bruce would have taken year one or two but probably not with the current roster

Very solid offer. Could possibly guard the 1, 2, or the 3 with his length.

I guess with our elite long term basketball history, Bruce Pearl has it so much easier than other coaches in our AD.

What Pearl has done at AU in basketball makes him a legend.

He has made us a basketball school.

Somebody else needs to up their recruiting game in our main revenue sport.

If Pearl can go head to head with the UNCs of the world and bring 5 star basketball players to AU, then I think some of the other men’s revenue sports should be able to recruit elite players.
