Wow, that’s not how I meant to come across at all... I was just simply stating the reality of the situation. I was commenting on the downvotes because I think some underestimate how much Okoro means to our squad.

Neither is the rest of the regular season but one he would be healthy for and the other he wouldn’t.. smh.

We have to position ourselves for the postseason. We are still holding serve at 3 seed. Don’t need a 5.

Good talk.

Because we aren’t the same team without Okoro and those that downvoted obviously don’t realize that fact

I downvoted you and clearly realize the fact Okoro is a huge part of our team. We are fresh off a final four run after arguably the most integral part of our team being hurt, so excuse us if we remain optimistic. No ones wanting to sacrifice a tourney run simply for an SEC title, but a sec title isn’t nothing. Plus Okoro could get hurt first game back then too. Point being is we can still do it without Okoro - sure it will be harder but for fricks sake that’s why we play the games

Thank you for making my point.. and you should’ve downvoted me because we simply disagree.

I’m as optimistic as anyone but realistic at the same time, regardless of fandom and Okoro covered A LOT of our flaws as a team. I’m not saying I don’t want an SEC title, that’s preposterous, but that it’s just unattainable without our best all-around player and margin of error.

I still have nightmares about our last Wednesday Night SECT game.

Nope, 2016 vs 14 seed Mizzou. Puryear ended our once decent looking, building block season at the buzzer with a 3.

We aren’t winning the regular season title without Okoro. Would you sacrifice our postseason success for our regular season? Which is more important? He’s going to be out at least another week or so

The regular season title is probably still the biggest thing this team can accomplish this season. Real talk. If you want a trophy to commemorate a year where you started hot and were 22-3 at one point (I do), the SEC regular season title is probably still our best bet even with the odds now stacked against us.

If we have, let's say, a 15% chance to win the conference, I think that's a better % than the odds this team is going to win the SECT (and the SECT isn't all that big a deal), and better than the odds of a deep tournament run. I'd love to see it, but I don't. I'd probably put the realistic hopes for team achievement at SEC Title - 1A, Sweet 16 - 1B.

I care more about the program getting notches on its belt than anything else, which is why I would make a full on push for the regular season title so long as there is any hope.

I'm just kind of in the boat of putting your best foot forward. If Okoro is cleared by our medical staff, play him and let's go beat the team in front of us.

I'd love the regular season title, but a Sweet 16 run isn't out of the question if we can hold on to a decent seed. That would be important as well and arguably more visible to recruits.

I'm mixed as to which I would care more about, but I agree, which is why I put them on about the same level in my mind. I think a S16 run would be higher profile in the moment, but I think adding another SEC title may be slightly better over the long term.

And obviously it's not really either-or, if we win the SEC we'll have a great chance of winning 2 games in the tournament, most likely. But I do want to play out the regular season with no thought to the SECT/NCAA until it becomes a done deal. It's not like that means playing a genuinely injured guy - it just means he plays when ready without any extra caution.

Now I want that 2nd bye too.

I also wanted to see how Ole Miss played against Mizz, who beat us fairly easily last week.

Mizz has a top 12 3pt defense in the country, and I saw where Ole Miss only made 3 to our 1 3 pointer, and they shot just a few less than us.

Ole Miss stayed in the game longer bc there best player had another good night(Tyree) while our best all round player was out w an injury.

We would have beat them w Okoro, no doubt.

We either need him against GA or our bench better score more or we will struggle again to get a win on the road.

IMO his defense against Mizzou would have been the difference.

There have been many times when our offense was stagnant late into the shot clock when Okoro got the ball and drove creating an opportunity for points. He really is a difference there too. I’d love to see more ball movement with Okoro probably out again.
