did We learn anything from the game tonight?

I’m a little apprehensive to say we’re back cuz it was at home.

But can’t deny what Devan did, also Samir showed some balls in the second half. Exciting.

I don’t think tonight’s game made any kind of statement. Just a quality win over a team that tends to cause a lot of frustration for opponents

Definitely not a statement nationally or whatever but massive for us. Good response to our worst week since last February

Still too many trips where the ball doesn't move but not as many as the last 2 games and we made some shots. I liked putting the ball in Okoro's hands more often and allowing him to create for others. He's definitely our best facilitator.

We just have to make more good shots...that's been killing us since Vandy until the 2nd half tonight.

nice to get back on track. It was nice to see baby giraffe go off. I am not sure we win if he doesn't start lighting it up. The team seemed to feed off of him tonight.

I was there.
The team erupted off the bench when twice USC had to call timeout after Cambridge was lighting it up on 2 occasions.
Players ran to Cambridge on the court hugging him and mobbing him.

It’s what we have needed from the outside. Hot shooting. A spark.

We won bc of Cambridge’s energy and points.

I think the fact we shot 88% from the Free Throw line was a big take away. Hopefully we can continue that trend moving forward.

18-21 looks hella good in my limited time as a basketball school fan.

O/U line was 147. 80-67. Vegas is unreal sometimes.

I think it reaffirmed more of who we are as a team. The run to start the season kind of helped gloss over some things, but coming into the year, this team was going to be streaky shooting, we all knew this.

Cambridge is a good shooter, but inconsistent. Same with Flannigan, same with Doughty, same with Purifoy. There are going to be nights that we are just off, and it will be difficult to score. We've seen that.

It's hard to replace such quality shooters like Brown and Harper were. And our subs are so young, it will take time for them to build up consistent confidence in their shooting.

We've seen that.True again. But what we need is ANY of those freshman subs to catch fire in a game, so they fill the void of our starters struggling.

Positives from last night:
1. Shooting in the second part of 1st half, and most of 2nd half. Especially from starters Samir, and Javon.
2. Good sub production. OFC Cambridge, but also JJohnson.
3. FT shooting. They have it in them, but need repetition to continue confindence (Cambridge is really weak there).
Negatives:
1. First part of game again. struggled shooting.
2. Okoro didn't touch the ball enough, and when got it, he was presured and couldn't get off a shot.
3. Javon dribbling too much on possessions. Not sure if that is just him or Pearl instructing him. There were times he simply dribbled from one side to the other until shot clock inside 5-6 seconds. Dont understand why....
4. Wiley should have had better shots, but still getting ball stripped, or struggles to score inside when contested.

I’m gonna disagree here. Okoro only had about 8 points but he had 7 assists. It seemed like the game plan was to draw them into the paint using Okoro and then find the open man.

USC never adjusted and kept clogging the lane. You gotta take what the defense is giving.

Yup. Okoro was our Point Forward a good portion of the night. A trend I hope continues.

Also versus Zone Ds Okoro needs to be the guy flashing to open areas of the zone so he can drive & score or dish.

I think trusting Okoro with the ball and letting him make the right basketball play could be huge for this team going forward. He gets it and did well in that role last night.

Yup. I hesitated to put it in my last post but I trust Okoro's decisions more than McCormick's.
