I generally hate Forde but not sure why you think Pearl is out of place in an article regarding head coaches who may be at risk for a "failure to monitor"

Because... did you read the article? Ollie didn’t receive a show-cause because of “failure to monitor.” He received a show cause because he intentionally lied to investigators and mislead them on multiple occasions.
Forde mentions it in the article but then goes back to however he can try tying it to other big name coaches so he can generate clicks. It’s very easy to see straight through Pat Forde.

She obviously has a really good family law attorney.

Malik didn't play tonight, but Bryce got some good minutes... He finished with 8 pts on 3/6 shooting and 2/3 from 3 and 1 reb by my count.

8 points in 11 minutes is pretty solid. He looked a bit out of shape and slow to react on defense, probably just out of game shape. Hopefully will look better in that regard next time he gets out there.

We have a coach with a history regarding lying/misleading investigors. We also had a president who was a douchebag and publicly complained about Bruce not cooperating
While I think we should be good, to act like this couldn't take a bad turn is absurd

How did we not vet this!
Probaly because the fricking Good 'Ole Boys network were blinded by him being an Auburn man. Maybe some of them knew about his position and figured they would be helping him out by getting him on CBP's staff. It should have never happened, and that needs to be the last time any of them try and muddle with a sports program.

All of this is irrelevant to my point, and the point Forde was trying to drive home.

I wondered when I saw this, why Person didn't go back to the judge that set this, and get his alimony payments drastically reduced due to his huge reduction in income?
Person, not surprising w/ ex players, that he really mismanaged his revenues, probably even beyond his divorce settlement....
And on the vetting, no one knows how they look at that when hiring a Auburn legend. Maybe didn't fully vet or maybe thought giving him a better salary would help him reduce his debts.

A Duke insider predicted Kessler, BJ Boston, and a couple other studs to Duke.
Hopefully he’s just a homer.

I want to believe Person’s lawyer is just embellishing the facts. Just making one 30,000 dollar payment with that annual salary is going to instantly exacerbate financial situations from bad to worse.
Person should’ve never coached for Auburn though. If I’m not mistaken he did not have a degree and they looked past that as well.

I didn't get to watch, but Malik played today. Finished with 13 mins 5 pts on 2/5 FG with 1/2 from 3 and 3 rebs
Bryce had 12 mins 12 pts on 3/5 shooting with 3/4 from 3 with 1 reb 1 steal and 1 assist (Should have had 2 more assist, but the C missed 2 layups). Him and Guy and easily the 2 best guards they have imo.

I’m starting to believe Bryce is gonna make the roster

He needs to get in better shape, but from watching 2 games he can easily play at this level (Summer/G League). If he can stay consistent I think he has a good shot at making the Kings roster.

Forde made three points
- Ollie was hammered for only level 2 violations
- NCAA has repeatedly emphasized HC responsibility for actions of program/assistants
- Multiple programs, including AU, have HCs whose assistants put them at risk w likely L1/L2 violations in this scandal
On just the Ollie note, the only official type comments on Bruce's cooperation is Leath publicly blasting him for not cooperation. It is not unreasonable to think the NCAA could take a similar view as the institutions president. Given insider roots, I'd imagine we would be okay as NCAA was open to Bruce's argument. Add to this though Bruce has a history of being a problem in investigations
On the HC responsibility, this is and should be a very real concern. AU is banking on an argument that "Bruce/AU could not be expected to know and took swift, appropriate action when they did"
I agree/like that argument but it has weak points NCAA can counter with
- Your program your responsibility, it is your business to know sooner.
- This was not uncovered internally
- AU AD responsible for not vetting employee hires
- Lack of trust in BP given history
I've said before, I expect a slap in the wrist that"sounds" bad but in reality has no lasting impact. NCAA gets their flesh wound but it won't leave a scar
