So Chuma didn’t make the all-SEC team. That sucks.
When you look at the selections it's tough to argue against anyone chosen over him. If he'd played all season like the last few games he would have had a better argument.

Yeah I’ve got no problem with him not making it. He didn’t start playing at a really high level until the end of the year. If he had played like that all year he probably makes it.

In the SEC this season, Chuma Okeke ranks…
3rd in box plus/minus
4th in defensive win shares
5th in offensive rating
6th in defensive rating
6th in total win shares
8th in steal %
9th in PER
9th in true shooting %
11th in block %
The nerd stats think he’s an All-SEC player.

I hope this drives him to come back next season and be an All-American.

Just goes to show how far the SEC has come in basketball looking at those two teams.
League will likely be better next year as well.

Wiley is traveling and might play, per Rothstein

Not sure I want to see Wiley unless we have a matchup concern
Our offense/identity makes much more sense without him

I'm already mentally prepared that his return will screw up whatever chemistry we have

Same. Give him a few minutes if we are in a blow out, but I hope we don’t force him back in the rotation.

Agreed on Wiley. I will say, though, that it's good to have him in the event Mclemore and Spencer are both in foul trouble.. which seems to happen every few games and especially away from home.

Wiley has been an enigma, but IMO we have to have him to make a serious tournament run. Which reveals I don't think we are going to make a serious tourney run.

Define "serious tournament run." I'm certain this team is capable of making it to the second weekend as is.

Elite 8 for me
Sweet 16 for a top 25 team isn't really "serious run." Great for Auburn, but should be minimum goal

I’d say Elite 8 or Final 4...which was my preseason expectation. Now Sweet 16 feels like a real accomplishment. Watching the O run through Chuma has improved my outlook but I’m not ready to buy in completely, yet.

Also, At the beginning of the year, having Wiley, I think Pearl wanted to have a more balanced, inside out offense. So Okeke, who also is tentative at times, simply blended in and was not prolific.
When Wiley was not going be out there. Pearl, pretty much forced Okeke to get more involved. We saw more isolation plays just for him, and he got better and more comfortable.
Pearl knew he was not going to get into the 1st or 2nd ALL-Sec team when he said he was trying to promote Okeke to the ALL-SEC defensive team. OFC he didn't get that either...

I’ll be thrilled with s16. It’s hard to win tournament games.

Anyone have any guesses whether he coaches at Auburn again?
It sucks because apparently, he was our best guy recruiting Cooper.
