Only reason I want him back is the offense is inconsistent and we need more people who can create their own shot.
Defense is sweet 16 level...offense is round of 32 level

We have had a few bad shooting nights, but we didn’t really consistently find our stroke last year until late December. We are in the top 10 in offensive output in the nation and have the #1 scoring margin in the nation. I think the offense is doing just fine lol.
I am excited to get Purifoy back though. Before he injured his ankle 2 years ago, he was the best slasher in the team and a knock-down shooter to boot

Purifoy should be a real good addition for that second unit. That unit is lacking a real threat from 3pt line.

While it is still early, AU has had either the best / 2nd best offensive efficiency game vs 5 / 7 opponents we've faced.
The 2 exceptions have been this recent lazy UNC-A game + Xavier.

I'd amend this to "people who can get to the FT line" Increasing your FT Rate is one of the quickest ways to improve offensive efficiency, even for poor FT shooting teams.
You also have the addt'l benefit of putting opponents in foul trouble

There is a pretty wide range of outcomes for what I expect from Danjel this year. I really have no clue. He was honestly our best offensive player in 2016 until he injured his ankle 9-10 games in. Hopefully we see a developed version of that along with better defensive play.

Coming out of HS, recruiting scouts said Danjel was nearly unstoppable attacking the rim due to quick first step/athleticism
I want to see that version of Danjel because we need someone who can attack the rim. Maybe it's his ankle, but Doughty hasn't quite lived up to what I hoped attacking the bucket

This, one of the things Heron did well was attack the basket. We are lacking that on this team.

One of things Mustapha did not do well was finishing after attacking the basket. He was lucky that whistles blew his way everytime

Now the zags have to play UT which will be an equally as telling game hopefully.
Big slate of games this weekend. We finally get a team with a pulse, albeit severely overmatched, Bama has another losable game (against a team we've played), Mich St/Florida, MSU/Clemson, UT/Gonzaga, Xavier/Cincy, Wisconsin/Marquette, Nebraska/Creighton, and lots of other solid matchups/possible upsets.

Dayton is a tough team. However, if we get out to one of our notorious 14-2 type starts to the game, they aren't the type of team that plays well from behind.

I agree. It'll be nice to see us play against a solid opponent once again. I think our guys will come out fired up hoping to jump on them early.
I'm thinking it could be a packed house Saturday!

Correct, but he was able to drive

Saw somebody on a Dayton forum yesterday saying that it's close to a sellout.

Here is a thread they have about the game, and the first post says it's a sellout...not sure how he knows though.

According to kenpom, offense is 13, and defense is 9. Overall we’re #8

I like their passion. Makes it more fun.

Anyone else have a gut feeling that UT beats Gonzaga this weekend?
Posted on 12/7/18 at 3:58 pm to auburn32
I had a worry sort of, but not really. They'd have to turn into a different team than the one that's shown up so far this season. Gonzaga's definitely beatable though. Illinois, UW, and Arizona proved that. Kansas played like absolute garbage, but their ingrained ability to hit clutch shots did UT in. That's what I think is the difference in the end.
Auburn opened at -14
And no, I don't want UT to win. Too much obnoxiousness.

Arizona St is legit. Have a chance to be 6th on Monday if they can hold on and Gonzaga beats UT.
