So is heron still wanting to go pro? I feel like I remember people on here stating there's a good chance he goes pro after this season. I could be talking out of my arse but I feel like there is no way he'd be drafted

There was a lot of talk about Heron leaving either going pro/transferring after last year.

Heron wasn't good enough to go pro then or now. Unless he wants to play in Europe/China

Last nights 2nd half not withstanding, Heron is struggling right now... Regardless, probably less than 50% he’s on this team next season.

Heron is only gone if something crazy happens with the FBI/Pearl situation. He’s not quite there yet to go pro and if he transfers that means he’s got to sit a year.

Maybe... good news is pearls offense allows his guards a ton freedom and opportunity to score.

Transfer is probably not that much of an option, unless he could graduate this summer or something.

This is a common based on no actual knowledge.

Heron has bought more into the team chemistry and AU + we give him all the freedom he wants to be a star.

Def possible he could transfer, but I doubt it at this point. He probably won't go pro after this year unless our checks stop clearing

TIFWIW but Jay Tate said in a thread a couple of weeks ago he thought there was about a 5% chance that Heron returns next year. Obviously that could change when he received a draft grade, but still. I see absolutely no reason that he would transfer.

Tate also doesn't know shite about basketball.

There was a lot of smoke about Heron transferring this past off-season. Seems like he is happier at AU from what I can tell though

As for pro, he is showing more explosion/athleticism but he is far from where he needs to be in terms of

Another off season focusing on his shooting would do him a lot of good. It's clear why he was a 5* coming out of high school with his athleticism. If he can become even an average shooter and stop getting tunnel vision he would be first team All-SEC.

Heron was a 40+ % 3FG shooter last year, he is a good shooter going through a slump.

His issue in terms of game is he is trying to get too cute passing up catch and shoots w/ a closeout to try and do an arguably harder shake and shoot long 2.

He needs to work at driving and finishing around the rim to be here. You can be a good finisher by creating your own look w/ your agility in the lane or you can finish through contact.

Right now, Heron can neither avoid rim protectors nor absord the contact and finish consistently

Yep. I would even by fine with trying to drive and just kicking it back out or reseting if it's not there, but he seems determined to finish one way or another.

I'd rather him miss a bad attempt at the rim than to shoot a garbage long 2

Gene.. curious on your opinion as the ALL-SEC teams aren't something I have paid a ton of attention to but I'd like to see our guys rewarded..

Who is the best bet for us? Gotta be Bryce right? And how good of a chance does he have?

For the coaches All SEC team, I don't expect any 1st team All SEC. I'd think Brown/Heron may have a shot of being 2nd team All SEC. Harper/Murray may be two guys who could get in the discussion as well if they really break out second half of play

Coaches All SEC teams have 8+ players and I'd think if they were decided today it would look something like

First Team (* indicates bubble pick)
G Collin Sexton Fr. Bama
G Chris Chiozza Sr. UF
G Jaylen Barford Sr. Arkansas
*G Jalen Hudson Jr. UF

F Yante Maten Sr. UGA
F Grant Williams So. TN
F Chris Silva Jr. USCe
*F/C Donta Hall Jr. Bama
*C Tyler Davis Jr. TAMU

Just Missed 1st Team: G Bryce Brown, G Tremont Waters, G/F Q Weatherspoon

Second Team All SEC (* indicates bubble pick)
G Tremont Waters Fr. LSU
G Bryce Brown Jr. AU
*G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Fr. UK
*G Deandre Burnett Sr. Ole Miss

*F Jordan Barnett Sr. Mizz
*F Admiral Schofield Jr. TN
*F Q WeatherSpoon So. MSU
F Jeff Roberson SR. Vandy
C Duop Reath Sr. LSU

Just Missed 2nd Team: F Aric Holmann MSU, F Jontay Porter MZ, G Daryl Macon Ark, G Mustapha Heron AU, F Kevin Knox UK, G/F DJ Hogg TAMU, G Jared Harper AU

Auburn gets bumped for one close road loss, but Texas Tech stays in the top 15 after their embarrassment of a week. Ohio State jumps 9 spots? For what? Minnesota is garbage right now. I thought they might jump us (they shouldn't have), but not that far. Can't argue with Saint Mary's, except they should be ahead of Gonzaga. Should have already been ranked. Not that any of it matters, but it's fun to be participating.

On the other hand, I like the slap in the face they gave Bama. They were so sure that they'd get a large amount of votes

They dropped 6 spots after losing 2 road games in the big 12. Tech has one of the best resumes in CBB right now, they are deserving of being right around #15

Don't see why you think they shouldn't have. They have better wins, their losses are all to NCAAT teams, 3/4 against top 25. They also are better in Strength of Record, Analytics Rankings and 8-0 in conference w/ two top 25 Wins.

There really isn't a great argument Auburn should be clearly ranked ahead of Ohio State

They are right next to each other after a 3PT win. St Marys has some really bad losses and just got their first NCAAT caliber win while Gonzaga has some great wins on their resume
