Source confirms to @AuburnRivals that Kevin Steele's new contract is worth $2.5 million per year, which makes Auburn's defensive coordinator the highest paid assistant coach in college football.

Some poster called NewbombII reporting a rumor he heard in the little boys room isn’t an insider.

Anybody can make shite up.

Even if Steele hates Gus, we just gave him 2.5 million reasons to love Gus.

The contract...I'll allow it. Gus should have to pay it. Every. Red. Penny.

Steele isn't worth 2.5 million a year. Gus isn't worth 7 million a year. What is Chad gonna make? 5 million? Auburn pays a lot of money for 8-5 / 9-4. I don't wanna hear the market rate bullshite, I want to win. Throwing money at Gus and this staff won't win us championships...

It's called ROI (return on investment), motherfrickers. Auburn probably has one of the top five highest paid coaching staffs in CFB. We haven't been a top five team since 2013, not even close.

You know how rare it is to get a ROI that closely correlates to the coaches salary? Let me give you a hint:

Top 10 Highest Paid Coaches as of 12/1/2019:

Rk | Coach | (ROI?)
1. Dabo Swinney (Yes)
2. Nick Saban (Yes)
3. Jim Harbaugh (NO)
4. Jimbo Fisher (NO)
5. Kirby Smart (Yes)
6. Gus Malzahn (NO)
7. Tom Herman (NO)
8. Jeff Brohm (NO)
9. Lincoln Riley (NO) Edit: Yes (top 10 pay - certainly top 10 performance since he's been there)
10. Dan Mullen (NO) Edit: Probably closer to a Yes than a NO

Geez. Can you not at least break down our coaches by areas?

To lump a very good DC in with ALL of Gus's coaching staff is not making your point work. Steele earned his reputation.

If you just don't like Gus period and anything associated with him, then just say so.

Exactly. They're paying championship money for mediocre results.

You could argue Steele hasn't produced those types of numbers, but Auburn is in a difficult position. If they let him walk Gus has shown he has a tough time making a hire that is significantly better than the guy before. What are the odds Gus could replace Steele with someone better?

Faux outrage from the usual sad boys. Business as usual on the Aubie board.
