He is officially gone

quote:

Auburn Athletics Director Allen Greene notified University President Dr. Christopher Roberts this week of his decision to step away from his role leading the Tigers in order to pursue other professional interests.

Auburn Live wrote about Green’s immediate future in April. Things always appeared to be headed in this direction.

In a perfect world, Greene would have liked to remain at Auburn. He sought clarity for months on his situation. When that clarity didn’t come and it became obvious Roberts wasn’t going to renew his contract, Greene made his intentions known.

This isn’t surprising given Greene interviewed at numerous other universities over the last year for AD positions. Greene saw the writing on the wall, and the plan was always for Greene and Auburn to part amicably.

quote:

Today, President Roberts named Auburn Athletics Chief Operating Officer Marcy Girton as Acting Athletics Director. University leadership will convene to appoint an Interim Director of Athletics who will serve while a national search begins for Greene’s permanent replacement.

What a time to be alive. We have an AD leaving that made Jacobs look good at his job

Who could’ve guessed we would receive this news before the QB announcement?

Does this mean the GOBS saw the depth chart and Finley is our starter?

Guess we need to create a coaching search thread and start pushing for certain coaches to stay

I actually thought Greene did a solid job hiring coaches. Swimming, WBB, and T&F all were very solid hires. Unfortunately the budget cuts that had us driving teams that should be flying, which made us look poor and Harsin tanking at the end of the season were his downfall.

This right here. He pissed off Bruce and Butch with budget cuts after the Final Four and Omaha runs and making them drive instead of fly. Made the baseball team drive to Raleigh for the super regional.

serious question. What did AG do that was bad or showed his lack of ability? I liked him as a dude, but don’t ever really follow the inner workings of the dept

So it is official! He is gone. Wonder if he found another job or just saw the handwriting on the wall?
