Yeah, and for the people drooling over Dell McGee: Caddy beat him out for Tank and Cobb. And he’s currently beating him out for Henderson.

Tank was recruited by Gus and basically locked in prior to Caddy. Naming Caddy as the new running backs coach was just a formality.

Caddy is very subpar in recruiting. He’s a great guy. An Auburn hero and legend. But his coaching and recruiting isn’t high SEC level

Wrong again. UGA already had 2 running backs in that class

Look im cool with making the move if Hugh wants to. Im not defending caddy to the death. Subpar is kinda overkill tho. Who has he missed on that our staff really wanted? He seems to get the guys he wants. He wanted Judkins and Harsin killed that and we could have had him. It’s not like he’s loosing battles for guys left and right. He’s been solid evaluating talent too like hunter and judkins. Everyone would be praising his evaluations if we had landed judkins and he had the season here he had at ole miss. If you want to say he isn’t elite I’m cool with that but he’s not out here signing walk ons to be our backs

Caddy was hired in 2019 but we haven't exactly been RBU since then either. Talent has slacked off too...

Auburn running back signees from 2016-19
Year Name Stars Rank
2016 Kam Martin 4 278
Malik Miller 3 444
2017 Devan Barrett 4 168
Alaric Williams 4 218
2018 Harold Joiner 4 152
Asa Martin 4 202
Shaun Shivers 4 344
2019 Mark-Antony Richards 4 90
D.J. Williams 4 319

Caddillac was supposed to have fixed this talent issue.

No RBU, not great recruiting either. He technically didn't fix what we needed.

what's not "high SEC level" is our coordinators. If we are making changes, that's where we need to start.

Auburn should be landing a Top 5 running back every other year. Mid teen running backs are solid backs. But they aren’t the elite of the elite.

Prior to Caddy we were landing Top 5ish backs about every other cycle and that goes all the way back to coach Dye

I think Roberts did a very good job with what he had to work with this season. Outside of the 4th and 31 the defense played good enough for us to win most games if we get any support on offense.

On offense I don’t know where all the blame goes because it seems to fall to every position group and coach. Anyone surprised about coaching changes after a 6-7 season don’t understand where the game is at

And almost everyone of them backs never played a meaningful down for us. But yall upset he landed Cobb and gonna get Henderson next year. And you’re not going to convince me the ol coach got hunter all by his lonesome and would have got judkins if not for Harsin

wat?

LSU just scored again.

Roberts couldn't stop NMSU with 12 on the field.

That shite against bama is as dumb as you will ever see.

At points, yes. But there are also suggestions (Twitter replies, McGriff moving off-field and then leaving) that he is a little bit of a loose cannon

I said win most games…

No one stopped LSU

NMST was a complete failure of epic proportions. I think Roberts is a good DC. Probably not the easiest guy to work with.

I thought so too. We didn’t have much to work with except in the secondary. I thought Roberts did a damn admirable job all things considered.

Like I said I will let freeze decide his staff.

I’m not arguing details of each coach. Because I won’t be making those decisions

Hugh Freeze had zero 1k rushers while at Ole Miss.

I don’t expect us to have very many 1k rushers under freeze and not sure how much high school running backs care about that now. Of course they want the rock but it’s more about overall development and saving the tread on the tires as much as it is yards rushed.

They want to be developed into complete backs rushing, receiving, pass pro all the above
