Somebody at Auburn has to drop the bag on offensive linemen

It’s going to continue to be Groundhog Day until this happens. It’s been this way for over a decade and they still can’t figure it out, astonishing. The offensive success starts upfront. It doesn’t matter who the skill players are if you can’t block, football 101.

This!! But, how do we change the negative perception? Teams have been negatively recruiting us for O Linemen for so long. How can we fix this?

Aforementioned money and modifications to the offense.
No great offensive lineman wants to play in game where his unit is on the field for only 10 minutes well into the 3rd quarter.

Once the Chizik O linemen graduated out there was a decline in Gus’ offense. I remember every year Gus would have a top 10 or top 15 recruiting class and I would be excited until after signing and see we only signed one offensive lineman in that class. Ray Charles could see this wasn’t sustainable.

Man. Go watch high level HS football. There are very few 6'6" OTs. A lot are just 6'3 OGs they move out. There is a reason they are paid 2nd behind QBs. There may be 40-50 good ones for all of college football. We will have to either over pay for one (which we won't) or develop a HS recruit. There is no quick fix.

Already did last year...... Chapman was just freaking deaf. So yeah, drop a bag but make sure he can actually hear.

So would Golish. The problem is you can’t run the ball without an OL.

Or mix it up and stop running up the middle. Mabson had zero carries and Washington is the only one that seems to be able to sneak through those little spaces up the middle.

There is obviously no quick fix on the horizon as far as the OL goes. What puzzles me is, why is Golesh trying to make Brown a pocket passer? Dude's strength is his legs. I just don't understand why Golesh isn't making him more of a run threat. Nick Marshall was a beast and extremely hard to defend. Brown holds the ball too long with an OL that can barely give you 2 seconds. Brown is bigger, faster, and stronger than Marshall was, yet Golesh is trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
