I love you guys but you read too much into everything. In 2019 we won the sect and had the goat run to the final 4
We did. Might want to gather the specifics of how that first tournament game closed out. We didnt have any juice whatsoever

So your contention is we were out of juice to start the tournament but then magically gained enough juice to run through 3 blue bloods like a knife through butter and pretty much beat the eventual national champ in the final 4 without what had been our best player in the tournament?

Well yeah. Once we got our legs under us we were then fine.
Dude if they didnt choke on FTs we would have lost in 2019 before the run ever got started. Mccormick was our best player only because he was fresh.

Tanking wont guarantee anything. We could tank and get bounced round one.
That happens and it goes down as the most disappointing team ever.

Isn't there something about losing that begets more losing?

We get bounced round one regardless and it's the most disappointing team ever.

If we have already won the regular season title, idgaf about the tournament title. We saw last year that winning the conference tourney has little effect on NCAA tournament seeding.
I will say that if the players want to go out there and try to win it for their pride, then by all means, let them. We do need to get some guys healthier before the NCAA tourney, though.

Just ran some numbers. From 1990 to 2024, the NCAA Basketball champ won their conference tournament 16 times and lost it 18 times.
Very slight edge to not winning it.

I don't like it.
But damn it would be sick seeing Muschalek go for 30

I would't say that we intentionally tank the SEC tournament, but if we win the regular season title, and if Broome continues to limp around, I wouldn't be disappointed to see CBP give him a little extra rest and sit him for the quarter finals after the double bye, then play to win it all.

So we were too tired to beat new Mexico state but then after playing a tough 40 minute game we had the juice to run kansas out of the gym on one days rest? How does that make sense

Jvon Mccormick being the only one fresh enough to make an impact that game is why I am digging my heels in. Maybe they got better acclimated to the elevation where they were at I don't know.

Sure but when you consider only one team can win the conference tournament and several get in that don't I'd argue that's a strong case for winning your tournament is not a deterrent in any way whatsoever

Or maybe they had a better mental approach, better gameplan, just shot the ball better etc, there's not always some unknown quantity like sudden fatigue or elevation, or time zone to read into.

I'd want to rest simply because of nagging injuries, not necessarily because of them getting tired. I'm not advocating throwing the games, but I wouldn't put much emphasis on them either.

The starters being off and only the 6th man being on implies we were tired. Players like Harper were playing uncharacteristically. If you remember correctly they rotated 13 players and were not tired. We were. That was our fifth game in 8 games.
Regardless, they missed 2 of 3 FTs with 1 second remaining and we won by 1. That is the difference between Yale and final four...
