UK is the "cream of the crop" why does it matter when we play them? One could easily argue its easier to upset a team in the semi final game than the finals
You can allow a team that we can beat to knock Kentucky out. Plus it sounds better to make it to the final?

Plus to beat UK in the semis to only let our guard down and lose in the finals would suck

Our tournament wins did not help our seeding last year.

our record was not as good last year and we were playing like the wheels fell off until we got hot

This is not correct. We were like an 7 or 8 seed heading into the SEC tourney. From what I understand though, the championship games played on Sunday have almost no effect on seeding.

I want to be the 2 or 3 seed to avoid Kentucky until Sunday.
ditto

Because if you beat Kentucky in the semi’s - it feels like you just won the tourney. Then you have to get back up and play another game against a team looking for their own “big win”.
(See Tennessee last year)

So we pretty much need to go atleast 2-1 these last 3 games to secure a 2 or 3 spot? If Florida and LSU win out then they’ll jump us?

???This is what I want to know. What are the scenarios over the next 3 games that we need to happen?

In a 3 team tie with LSU and UF.. UF would be the 2, we would be the 3, LSU would be the 4.
2 team tie with UF we would lose. 2 team tie with LSU we would win.
If we finish 2-1 or better we are guaranteed to be on the other side of the bracket from Kentucky.

I would love to beat UK in Lexington. That being said, There is a pretty good chance we could see them again in the SECT, and I would rather win that one. Not saying we couldn't beat them 4 times in a row, but I think the odds are against us.

By the way,
Florida plays @ Tennessee, @ Georgia, and then has Kentucky at home.
LSU - Texas A&M (home), @ Arkansas, Georgia (home)
Miss St - @Missouri, @USC, Ole Miss (Home)
South Carolina - @Alabama, Miss St (home), @Vandy
I am hoping we can go 2-1 the rest of the way. Will probably have to root for Bama against USC, and USC to beat Miss St. Kentucky over Florida (unless we beat Kentucky). I think LSU loses one or two more.

Yes, I get that but I never worry too much about it. Line up and play'em. I know we can lose to anyone, but also believe we can beat anyone and really don't care who we play or when we play them.

I prefer to win which means I also prefer to line up against easier opponents

quote:We can get the 2 seed even going 1-2. LSU needs to lose 1 which is very possible with them playing at Arky with Isaiah Joe back. Florida needs to lose 2. UK at home will be tough & they can lose 1 of 2 against the Vols & Dawgs both games on the road.
So we pretty much need to go atleast 2-1 these last 3 games to secure a 2 or 3 spot?

quote:Correct & it's based on head to head records. Florida would be 2-1, AU 1-1, LSU 1-2.
In a 3 team tie with LSU and UF.. UF would be the 2, we would be the 3, LSU would be the 4.

That type of mentality leaves us needing help from other teams to beat LSU and Florida. Not interested in that. We need to assume UF and LSU win out. That’s the mentality we need, not some backing into a #2 seed.

It’s the mentality the basketball team needs. Us posters on the Rant can have whatever mentality we want to have - don’t think the mindset on the rant has any effect on our basketball team
