That type of mentality leaves us needing help from other teams to beat LSU and Florida. Not interested in that. We need to assume UF and LSU win out. That’s the mentality we need, not some backing into a #2 seed.
It's not a mentality. It's just a form of number crunching. I actually think we beat the Vols up there & A&M. I'm just giving info on best possible outcomes should we lose 1 of those games along with UK.

As fans we don't need to assume anything on LSU or Florida. It's the teams' job to take the approach that LSU & UF win out & play their asses off accordingly. As fans we look at different scenarios.

I agree, but I don’t like the idea of needing help. Let’s win 2 and we get a 2 or 3 seed. I guess I’m prepping myself

2 seed would be solid. Avoids florida, kentucky and mississippi state until sunday if we make it that far. I liked the fight today. Still have a lot of upside iyam. Time is running short so next week is huge

Next weeks games will show us everything about this team.

If we can’t beat the aggies at home and the vols on the road - the tourneys will be one and done.

I agree on A&M but I’m not assuming any road game is a win this year.

I don't expect us to lpse both and i don't expect one and done either. Deep runs are in question but I'm not ruling it out. A lot will depend on matchups

I agree. How we play these last 2 games has nothing to do as to how we play in the tourney.

I've seen teams limp into an SECT and get to the finals or even win it. I've seen a team on a roll, lose their first game.

Different feeling when it's tourney time...

I just want us to win our home game, and then let's see if we can win another in Knoxville. They play well at home...see how they just played Fla.

Tennessee beat Kentucky at Rupp. They were down 17 at one point too. If only we could hit FTs..

Where are things now with the UT win, the USC win, and the bama loss?

Are the turds the 8/9 seed now?

if we finish the two seed We can still see Mississippi State Saturday should both teams get that far. Mississippi state could still finish the six seed behind South Carolina in the standings and if they finish in a tie with them South Carolina has the tiebreaker by having a win over Kentucky. If we finish the three seed we could see them Friday.

I disagree with all of this.

Matchups won’t help our erratic guard play. This is not a tourney team.

Think about all the Auburn teams you have seen play well in the tourney. They all had two great ball handlers and distributors.

This team has two great streaky shot creators. I love their hearts and I have enjoyed watching them but I can’t wait for Cooper to arrive. We will finally have a guy (like Jared Harper) that can beat the press by himself and “pass players open”.

Samir went for 25 tonight and J'Von had 10 assists. We got 6 bench points and that's why we lost

I think we really come down on Samir and J'Von a little too much at times because we became so accustomed to our backcourt just taking over last year

Okoro is not the same post-injury and the 4 has been a blackhole for us between McLemore and Purifoy's play.

I'm all for pinning it on the guards when they play terribly, but they're not our primary issue right now

Also, I was at the game and this is what I felt:

Samir did everything he could to score. TaM was very good with that zone, and very good defending.

I was shocked when I saw that J'Von had 10 assists. I never felt like he had that good of a night.

They played as well as they could. Probably too many TOs. But most of those were in first half(only 3 in 2nd half).

The problems were:

1. When Samir went to the point. THey would press and try to trap coming up the court, and he had problems getting out of it. He also had trouble with their zone.
2. McCormick handled the press much better, but the one problem he has had all season, is when Wiley comes high and then rolls back to the middle, he would be open and J'Von would NOT know or see it and get him the ball for an almost slam or layup. He would keep looking around the arc and dribble too much. I don't know how many times, Wiley would throw his hands up showing he was open, and Jvon would just not see him or feel uncomfortable getting it too him.

The reason we lost was TaM shooting over 55% in the 2nd half.
Overall, we could not create enough stops, and when we did, we did not box out well and they would get 2nd chance points at critical times in 2nd half.
