I don’t feel very strongly about it either way, so if that’s how you feel about it, I’ll defer to your judgement.
As an aside, the one reason why I never really blasted the NCAA for letting a non conference winner back in or for letting two teams within one conference in is because I would’ve wanted that possibility in a similar scenario (minus the mid-season loss) in the future.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I actually thought that uat was one of the four best teams (not necessarily one of the four most DESERVING) in the country, which is supposed to be the committee's goal. As much as I hated it, I actually understood them being selected.
I personally think it should be the four most deserving teams FWIW until they do the right and expand the playoffs to eight teams.

Well anybody can just make shite up

Which team that made the playoffs would we have replaced?
Definitely Bama.
Have you been paying attention to CFB for the last 100 years? There is zero chance we'd of got in over a 1 loss bama. I bet it would have gone to tOSU if that had happened.

This is stupid. He won the West, beat the 2 teams in the natty game, and won 10 games. Talk about some stupid off-season shite...

Bama didn’t play anybody, lost the H2H, and we made them lose the eye test. It’s entirely plausible.
Meanwhile, we would’ve beat two number one teams and our losses to playoff contenders.

The same team that lost two games including losing by thirty to a bad Iowa team? No. The committee doesn’t forgive bad losses.

When the committee gives a mulligan to a none Blue Blood it will be the first time it happened. Until then assume the benefit of the doubt would go to the Blue Bloods in close comparisons.

This is purely retarded. Just stfu and quit posting if you are stupid enough to believe this.
And I have to believe you are since you started a thread on it.
I rarely call out other Aubies, but seriously, get lost, take a hike, whatever if this is the kind of trash you think is thread worthy.
Now, back to AU bball talk. #20-2

It isn’t healthy to get triggered over an internet article that I heard Al Del Greco discuss on the radio for over thirty minutes. Ross can either ban me for making zero ad hominem attacks, or he can delete the thread and turn this joint into an echo chamber, or you can get the frick over it. Malzahn is no where near safe whether you like that or not. He is up there with O and as the article pointed out, O is Alleva’s baby. Once O goes, Alleva has to go.

He is safe for at least 4-5 years. Unless his Buyout is generous, there is no way AU ties up >10% of the yearly revenue just in buyouts to Gus/assistants. It would be 20% with the new staff included
In terms of % of fans who want him fired though, he probably is definitely a near leader in that category though

First of all, we're too talented and too well-coached (coordinators and position coaches) to finish with more than 4 regular season losses in either of the next two seasons. While that would be terribly disappointing, it would be the height of fiscal irresponsibility to take on $20-30 million in guaranteed money for essentially finishing at our historic average.
Second of all, the fact that someone on SDS speculates something ludicrous, and an AU alum opines on it for half an hour (no doubt to the delight of those in his listening audience who aren't AU and/or Gustav fans) doesn't make it any more credible.
tl:dr - Gustav's seat isn't even warm. I know you're pissed off that we retained him, and I don't discount your reasoning - but it's over. You can post elaborate fiction that supports your fantasy that he's on his way out, but it's not going to happen in the foreseeable future.
If you don't want to listen to logical refutations of nonsense like the article you linked, I suggest you keep them to yourself. Otherwise prepare to be ridiculed for giving them more credibility than they deserve.

Got fill those hours in the off season. Click bait BS does that. Also generates callers.

It wasn’t like this at all. Everybody was “SDS herp derp, get this shite out of here,” and my question was why can’t we talk over his talking points without getting bogged down on the source from the start? If you want a legit discussion, opine on the heat that Gus will receive if he goes ohfer in Amen Corner. Don’t just get out of shape at speculation that you don’t want to hear.

There has been two or three logical posts much less refutations in this thread. If anything this thread needs more of those mythical posts that you’re talking about. Buts it’s not going to happen and I get that and I doubt I’ll give this thread more clicks.

I’m not interested in seeing Gus gone and I’ve never been a #fireGus kind of poster. My point has been that he never nuked the hot thread rumors after finishing 3-2 since the UGA game.

That doesn't equate to being on the hot seat. And I think that's the issue here. There will always be calls for heads. I get more of a sense of cautious optimism more so than torches and pitchforks. If we lose to UGA/Bama next year I still think Gus is very safe because there's not a clear successful alternative and he's coaching against the GOAT in Saban.

From the linked piece:
This is stupidity on stilts. Honestly. The 2004 team was more talented top to bottom (Hell, the 2003 team was more talented top to bottom, and they stank), and you could even make an argument that the 1983 and 1988 teams had more talent top to bottom. And the idea that Malzahn "coached them out of the playoff" is absolute twaddle.
