So Anthony thinks he’s going to be drafted bc of speed alone?

If this was a normal season then your sane, end of every normal year, logical advise would ring true. However this is not a normal bowl game for Auburn. This is game one of a new era and if you're hoping to be around next year, just hoping, then being a NO SHOW is a horrible way to start it. Now if you are going pro or definitely leaving that's completely different.

Like I said in an average year your way makes a lot of sense; however the next coupe months is a tryout for those staying.

Based on what? I’ve not seen any of these kids quit or mope around. Even Seth, who has done the most showboating and yapping of anyone (and he backs it up with his play), has never quit on the team that I’m aware of. The only thing that Schwartz has done to imply he’s any bit selfish was tweet about the coaching search being a clown show, which we all thought it was at that point.

I’m just confused by these narratives we’re putting on our team. Gus is no hardass but he’s not a soft coach.

ETA - I guess Schwartz opting out of the bowl game is selfish, yeah. However this year is different than most. He’s certainly not good enough to opt out for the draft, so if that’s why he opted out then he needs a reality check. But he does have a real future in track so maybe that is what he’s set his eyes on. If that’s the case, I don’t really have a problem with it.

Uh....big games, Seth disappears. He seems to only play when he wants to play & a complete non-factor otherwise. But that's just my untrained, worthless opinion, obviously you see it differently.

That’s not Seth’s fault. He can’t get open against good defenses. He only catches the 1 or 2 jump balls and gets about 25-45 yards. He needs to work on getting off the line and creating separation.

Seths made big plays at big moments. I’ll have to disagree. One problem may have been getting him the ball

Schwartz, isn't he looking to run for a spot in the Olympic Games in Tokyo? Why risk injury to miss those games over a meaningless Bowl Game?

Regarding Tutt ....move on ...tired of him squatting over slight fakes, then trying to catch his wide open receiver on his way to a TD. Enough of his anticipated misreads and mistakes.

Last winter he said was running a qualifier for the olympics this June. He said then if he qualified he would let football go. I’m guessing be either didn’t run or didn’t qualify. He was already coming off an injury so I doubt he was in much shape.

I posted this last December:

Schwartz tells Marcello that he is still mulling over which career to take, but his decision is dependent on how Schwartz’s 2nd track season at Auburn goes..

Schwartz says if he runs like last year he will stick to football.

But if he runs well enough to make an Olympic team, he plans to stick with track. He wants to get his run times down, so I hope he is successful.

Olympic qualifications run through June 29th.

He begins his track season at Auburn in February and once again he’s not expected to participate in spring practice.

I thought with the olympics being delayed, he did not have to make a decision. Hopefully he is taking a break and planning on his spring sports

Alexa, show me the Venn diagram of people that use the term "meaningless bowl game" vs. people that bitched about Gus being 2-5 in bowls

He probably will actually. How do you think John Franklin III has been able to stay on NFL rosters?

No problem with him leaving... just him twitting as if quitting was something to be proud about.

edit:Nope didn't see it, but anything more than a thank you is sour grapes, and he was treated more than fair while here.

Is it possible we could have to cancel bc of the SEC rule requiring so many scholarship players available at each position?

We are down 4 scholarship RBs at start of season (Boobie, Joiner, now MAR, and Tank). That leaves on DJ and Shivers.

IF Tank is covid, then all RBs COULD be made to quarantine....
