From my understanding, position coaches are essentially year to year employees.

I think you were misinformed.

Williams agreed Jan. 23 to an annual salary of $325,000 in a memorandum of understanding he signed upon his hiring, according to documents provided Tuesday to Auburn Undercover via an open records request. Williams' full contract, when executed, runs through Jan. 31, 2021.

Jack Bicknell Jr.

Offensive line coach JACK BICKNELL JR.

After one season, Bicknell is not returning to Auburn. He signed a two-year deal last January worth $1 million, so Auburn will now owe him his second year of payments — $500,000, with an opportunity to be lessened if Bicknell takes another job.

Kodi

Burns' new contract runs through Jan. 31, 2022, and it will pay him $425,000 annually, which represents a $75,000 raise from his previous salary. Burns' compensation under the new deal includes $250,000 in annual salary, paid out monthly over the course of the contract, as well as $87,500 each in endorsement rights and personal appearance payments.

I am not going through all the coaches contracts. Needless to say we give out multi-year deals to our assistants.

ETA I had always assumed they were multi-year deals. You don't want a good position coach getting poached from you for free.

TIFWIW. autigers07 one of the insiders on the bunker said that from what they've heard they've already hired the OLB coach, but they're waiting until after NSD to announce. They said they didn't think it was TWill

Why would they wait until after NSD? Couldn’t he help us recruit now?

Anyone know if Harsin will hold pressers for his assistant hires? I'm kinda curious to hear from some of them.

Someone help me, what's the logic with waiting until after NSD to announce a coach?

Maybe he has obligations with his current job?

Yeah, that doesn't make much sense............unless it's an NFL guy who is still in the playoffs. I am not sure why you would wait in any other situation?

But if he is already hired, wouldn't that be some sort of contractual issues? Are they recruiting for two schools? Seems odd unless maybe it's an NFL coach or something.

It could be a condition to him accepting. His current school doesn’t want him to leave until after NSD so it doesn’t tamper with their class. It seems dishonest to the kids, but it happens every year. Hopefully that means he’s a good recruiter

TWills contract doesn't run out until the end of the month. If they let that run out before hiring another coach Auburn saves a little money. Thats the only reason we would wait that long imo.

An NFL coach would have no tie in to NSD, so there is no way this an NFL coach.

It sounds like it is a college coach that is honoring his current school's request to withhold it until after signing day.

Brick Haley out at Mizzou too. I can't tell if fired him or if he's taking another job.

Did not want him here. Not a good recruiter.

Schools won't release a recruit because a position coach leaves or is fired. Typically only happens when it's a head coach.

Looks like we've brought in a BSU guy as defensive analyst for LBs? Danny McDonald?

Take this with a grain of salt, but someone on the bunker started a thread saying our final hire will be made tomorrow. Again grain of salt, but Coach Harsin is supposed to have a PC tomorrow so it could be announced then idk. Guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. The person who started the thread is supposed to be an insider named Jeff Holland. They said they didn't know who it was, but they'll be announced tomorrow.
