According to sources the receivers coaching vacancy is down to either Paul Finebaum or Gary Danielson. I'm hearing Finebaum is the lead candidate due to his slick style.

I feel like Zac similar to how I felt (and feel) about Cadillac. Good story, good Auburn ties, but IMO at a school like Auburn I would expect more of a track record. Not that I don't think Zac will be successful, but he's a relative unknown compared to guys like T-Rob (who we probably wouldn't have gotten anyway, but still). If he's not an AU guy, does he get hired this year by any SEC school?
This comparison is silly and doesn't make any sense. Cadillac had virtually no resume to speak of when he was hired - one season as a RB coach at a HS, and one season as RB coach for the "Birmingham Iron". Zac Etheridge may not have a developed resume yet, but don't insult him by making that comparison. He was hired at Louisiana by Billy Napier who everyone here would have jumped for joy over had he been named Auburn HC. He then jumped from Louisiana to Houston - a legitimate football program who's HC (Dana Holgorsen) has had legitimate D1 success. You understand that when T-Rob got hired by Florida, his resume didn't look that much different? He was coming off one season at Texas Tech. Houston vs. Texas Tech isn't a giant leap in "prestige". I'm not saying that Etheridge is going to be T-Rob, but T-Rob wasn't a "known commodity" when Florida gave him an SEC job either. I'm sure that Florida fans were saying "who??" and needed a lot of convincing over that hire; taking a relatively no-name coach from Texas Tech with zero SEC experience and a few prior stops at Southern Miss and Western Kentucky.

As for Rocker, I think he can be good for us but I think a lot of people are getting wrapped up in Nick Fairley's success as representative of his entire body of work. I haven't followed him since his last stint here but it doesn't seem like he's accomplished much in recruiting or on-field coaching at the 3 or 4 stops he's had since. That concerns me a little.
Rocker is kind of a boring hire for the reason that he's a pretty apathetic recruiter, but his "work" here stretches much further than just Nick Fairley. How soon do we forget that Dee Ford was a product of Rocker? How about Antonio Coleman? Antoine Carter? Jeff Whittaker? He also did the ground work in setting the development of Gabe Wright and Angelo Blackson (who's still in NFL). He's a better technical coach than Garner is, which is why he keeps getting SEC jobs despite everyone knowing that he doesn't like to recruit much. His stint as a DL coach in the NFL also attests to that.

New name to add to the list for the OLB job, Keneche Udeze. He coached outside linebackers at Vanderbilt last season.

Under Ted Roof?
... And Derek Mason, of course.
Please don't kick me out.

All he would do is suck off Bama. He'd be too busy doing that to coach.

Was he? He played as 190lb true freshman in 2009. Was hurt in 2010 IIRC.

How about Antonio Coleman?
Left after 2008 and didn't player under Rocker.

Antoine Carter?
Decent college player. Noting to really celebrate.

Jeff Whittaker?
Major bust. He and Kenneth Carter were terrible their entire careers at Auburn.

Hell of a player in college at USC. 2003 All American and NCAA Defensive National Player of the Year according to his bio. Led the nation in sacks in 2003. First round draft pick of the Vikings. Played there when Mason was coaching with the Vikings. Udeze served on staffs for the University of Washington (2009-12), Seattle Seahawks (2012), Minnesota Vikings (2013), University of Pittsburgh (2014-15) and Southern Cal (2015-18). Served as DL coach at USC.
Served as an analyst under Aranda at LSU in 2019.

Jeff Whittaker?
I also have to throw out Corey Lemonier. He was really good for Auburn.

Bill Clark is reporting that both Finebaum and Danielson wanted to stop dickridding Saban and start dickridding Bill Clark but Bill Clark turned them both down

Jhead on the bunker said Kenechi Udeze is a name to watch for OLB, but he's not counting out T-Will yet.
He was Vandy's LB coach this year. Here's his bio on Vandy's website LINK
Edit: 247 has added him to their names to watch as well

quote:
Kenechi Udeze, who served on staff for LSU’s 2019 national championship run, joined Vanderbilt as its linebackers coach in 2020.
Udeze assisted Tiger defensive coordinator Dave Aranda as an analyst during LSU’s 15-0 campaign capped by an impressive 42-25 victory over Clemson in the College Football Playoff title game.
The LSU defense was one of the nation’s most opportunistic units, ranking fifth nationally with 17 interceptions and 15th in turnover margin. The Tigers were superb in scoring defense (21.9 points/game) and total defense (343.5 yards/game).
Udeze joined the LSU staff after having played for Tiger head coach Ed Orgeron at USC, where he was a consensus All-America defensive end in 2003.
Prior to joining LSU, Udeze served on the defensive staff at his alma mater from 2016-18 after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2015.
In 2016, the defensive front helped USC limit opponents to 139.6 rushing yards/game. One of Udeze’s top products, Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, earned Rose Bowl Defensive MVP honors and become a seventh-round NFL Draft choice. In 2017, the Trojans led the nation with 46 sacks.
Udeze helped bring in arguably the nation’s best defensive line class with five-star defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu, five-star Jay Tufele, Caleb Tremblay and three-star gems Brandon Pili and Lichtenstein. He was also involved with the recruitments of All-Americans Siaki Ika and Ty Robinson, two of USC’s major 2019 defensive line targets.
Udeze was a three-year starter from 2001-03 at defensive end for USC, racking up 135 tackles, 51 tackles for loss, 28 sacks, an NCAA record-tying 14 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in his career.
As a senior in 2003, Udeze earned consensus first-team All-America status during USC’s national championship run, leading the nation with 16.5 sacks and ranking fourth with 26 tackles for loss. He was a first-round selection in the 2005 NFL Draft, taken 20th overall by the Minnesota Vikings. He was a four-year starter at defensive end for the Vikings.
He was a multi-sport standout at Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles.

If we were to lose T-Will to Florida and replace him with anything less than an absolutely stellar hire, I'd be disappointed. He's not someone I'd be particularly happy about having to recruit the state of Florida against.
