I actually feel bad for them. Have always liked S. Carolina. Hell of a lot better than the leghumpers.

One of my best friends is a SC fan. They are good fans and generally like AU.. until now..

The SC fans I personally know are thrilled about what we’ve done. Kind of gives me pause.

What did bobo have to work with last year exactly?
Posted on 1/14/21 at 9:12 pm to blzr
I’m not just talking about Bobo. And I’m just relaying what I’ve heard them say, people who are lifelong SC fans who breath and live it.

They're trying really hard to convince themselves we are screwed by taking their coaches
Posted on 1/14/21 at 9:22 pm to Jyrdis
Oh okay, so just the super cereal ones. That clears everything up
Posted on 1/14/21 at 9:23 pm to Jyrdis
Okay, you sound dumb as shite

Some guy on AUF is referencing something some guy on 247 said about some WR coach interviewing that people wouldn't believe.
Wow, coaching news has really slowed, hasn't it?
Folks in the thread are guessing Moorehead, but I figured that info has been out for a couple of days.
That's all I can find.

This is kinda one of those things where you have to assume that the head coach, who has years of experience, conference championship wins, ties within the coaching network, etc. just maybe knows more about the ability and worth of these guys he hired than...the butthurt fans of the schools that they came from.
It's actually a really interesting phenomenon. Bedell was a "bad hire" because Boise's fans supposedly didn't think he was good. Okay, well the guy who actually worked with him clearly likes something about him. This isn't to state that the head coach always knows what he's doing or is making the right decision, but there has to be some degree of respecting the authority.
The USCe stuff is really stupid because Bobo and Rocker were literally only there for this past season. Will Friend had JUST accepted a position so he hadn't even coached a game there yet. So USCe fans became experts on the competence of those guys based off of one season? In which the HC got fired?
It's a really silly suggestion. How much of this is also skewed by the saltiness that comes from the fact that they accepted to stay on under Beamer, and then they all dipped out when a better offer came? Usually something like that triggers a powerful "we didn't want them anyway" response.

Ok. I see the board has gone full tilt. Par for the course.

Can someone give me cliffs on why USC fans are upset with us? Haven't followed the assistants hires that closely.

We hired three of their coaches, and stand a great chance of flipping their once commited 5* QB recruit.

Shane Beamer got hired as HC and he retained Mike Bobo as OC and Rocker as DL coach. They both accepted to stay on the new staff. Then Bobo brought Will Friend in as OL coach.
Then one by one we hired Bobo away as OC. Then Friend came along as OL coach, and Rocker just the other day also came.
They're butthurt because we poached all the guys that Beamer had secured to keep on the staff. So now you're going to hear a lot of "haha we didn't want them anyway and they actually suck" meanwhile I'd bet any amount of money those same fans were probably convincing themselves that Beamer did a great job in retaining them .
Also they had a 5-star QB committed who was only going there because of Bobo, and he decommitted right after he left and now he's probably coming here instead.

I almost feel bad for the work I did on the rant the last 2-3 days in their threads. Holy shite are they down over there.
I don’t. They are ignorant and obnoxious. frick em.

Rocker and Bobo were at USCe for a year and they were retained by a new head coach. Friend was hired there less than a month ago
To say we should base anything off such limited time is, putting it mildly, short sighted. They may work out great or poorly. We won’t know based solely on the 2020 Covid season. Especially one where the coach was on the ultimate hot seat.
Call it tilted if you want. Just seems reasonable to me

It has came to a stall for sure. Maybe we will hear a receiver or olb coaching hire tomorrow.

Every time we are reminded that we’ll never, ever be included in the coaching hiring process we seem to immediately forget it.

I feel bad for the gullible that believe and disperse everything auburn sports media gives them but this lesson seems pretty clear by now. Time has made fans forget.
Anyhow, there’s no great sense of urgency. The overwhelming majority of the current recruiting class has signed. Take the time to hire the right pieces. Pursue everyone you want to and if the end result is the guy you could have hired a week ago then you haven’t lost much.
Just my thoughts. We’ll spend years complaining about bad hires. Gotta have enough patience to wait a week or two for a new one
