I honestly don’t want that punk arse on the sideline coaching anyone. He can be recruiting coordinator but he sure as shite can’t coach WRs any better than I can

Craig is one of my all-time favorite Auburn players. I can still see an incredible play he made in my head. That being said.......I really hope he never has a position at Auburn again.

At WR we need a very good coach and a good recruiter. Not a dynamic recruiter and a below average coach.

IMO - we need to target 1 top 10 WR each year that gives us decent feedback if we are able to secure them great. Then target several from 10-25. We have got to get better then the number 56 WR in a class.

Schwartz - #30
Williams - #35
Jackson - # 67
Stove - #20
Hudson - #19
Capers - # 24
Evans - #30
Canion - #85

These are the rankings of the receivers that caught passes this season. I think, for the most part, they’re all at least D1 starter quality. We’re taking very few out of the top 35.

I agree very strongly, as you mentioned, that the upper end on WR recruiting is killing us. That’s the biggest difference in our WR recruiting versus our rivals

And our commit this year is ranked what #67?

With the numbers listed above those position rankings aren't the rankings of a top 15 program.

We have bitched about OL for years. I've been there the past 2 as well. But our WR recruiting hasn't been good since Stove, NCM, and Davis class.

Does the NCAA have a limit on the number of "off the field" positions a school can have for its' football program?

I'm not sure exactly the answer to that but seems like I remember you can have 2 offensive and 2 defensive analyst and a "few" GAs that can help at practice and the analyst can be in the booth on game days. Not sure if they can have headsets.

But support staff I think can be unlimited.

Believe there is a limit of on field coaches and number of headsets that can talk but no limit on number of staff.

As of now there is no limit on analysts. However only 10 coaches can coach on game day. I'm sure it's not heavily monitored because strength coaches are on the sidelines just usually don't have headsets on. I think that's the issue. In 2017 Auburn had 41 coaches, analyst, GAs, support staff, and strength coaches on staff.

Alabama currently has 11 analysts on staff.

Nope but they should. Saban has made his living by hiring a gazillion off-the-field people.

Last year's WR class is definitely a "top 15" group. Left off the list above is Malcolm Johnson Jr, who was #38 overall. I know the list for only those that actually caught a pass, but until we have a legitimate passing game, we won't pull in any elite WR's, but it's still a top 15 WR class.

We had the number 19, 24, 30, 38 and 84 WR's in the country in that class. This year is obviously a concern, but our passing game was awful, we couldn't get kids on campus and we had a coaching change. You can't expect to replicate the past few years when dealing with what we've been up against this year.

If there is no limit I believe I read somewhere that Harsin was frustrated that Boise wouldn't let him hire a full on recruiting staff.

That may be what he is about to do here, based on the title of some of his off field coaches.

There were rumblings about that about a week ago or so.

Would be a good thing to have IMO.

Yea from what I read, he fully plans to implement the full amount of staff/off field stuff possible, very similar to what Saban and others have done.

It is what he wanted at Boise to build it up even more and he couldn’t get the school to move that way. He very much wants to build a program in a similar fashion. He’s got a seriousness about him and I am looking forward to seeing how this all plays out.

Jhead one of the insiders on the bunker said Tosh is completely off the table. He also said either tee Martin or Wyatt for WR coach, T-Will for OLB. He said he heard some names for DL, but didn't want to name anything yet. FWIW
