I hope that none of this is correct. Honestly, it's hard to believe that it is.

Cubelic said several times "I can confirm without a DOUBT that Napier just turned down the AU job."

I doubt Cole (who works for ESPN) says this publicly if he wasn't sure.

Why is it hard to believe? Throw out JetGate and the shite show. After Gus’ second year there were rumblings about him being pressured to do this or that or make certain hires. Where there’s smoke...

This is why it is hard for me to believe. After the shitshow with Tubbs and subsequent fallout, you'd think this wouldn't be an issue anymore. We supposedly got rid of part of the problem when JJ left and Lowder went bankrupt.

Believe it. It's a systemic problem, not one or two people. The rich have their way with whatever the frick they want in this country.

I see coaches pulling names and stuff like this as we have a coach about to be named it’s how it always happens.

There is a difference in pulling your name out of the running and flat turning it down.

It was confirmed by multiple folks 100% he turned us down.

if you're in favor of a Bill Clark hire please explain to me your reasoning.

He has won everywhere he has been.
He knows the state better than anyone.
He is an outstanding human being.

He is not my first choice (Napier), but I think his floor is fairly high.

Being perfectly frank here.... we are not in the market for a choir boy.... We need an aggressive hardnosed coach that can recruit within the top 5%

So which of the 4 of those guys that exist do you want to go get?

Is UAB a powerhouse in their conference? Dude took a bad job and turned it into an ~8 win program. Ok, cool. Auburn's coach should be able to dominate the Conference USA.

That's nice. Ultimately the 5-star kid in this state is going to want to play for Saban or Smart or anyone else. "Knowing the state" doesn't land you recruits.

I love how no one wants to bring up the fact that this guy was steering kids away from Auburn when he was in HS. Now we're trying to convince ourselves he's an option for our position.

THIS! We hired a coach once from Wyoming, with very little name recognition, and that worked out pretty well.

Sure Clark hasn't been a lot of places, but everywhere he's been, he's won. What he did at UAB is just short of miraculous. Look at what he did at Jax State, also.

UAB was SHUT DOWN! Essentially, the death penalty. How'd that work out for SMU? UAB never went to a bowl game. Clark has took them every year and just won their conference. Gus wasted talent, Clark makes players better.

That's not how that worked. That's not how any of this works.

Program was shut down for a couple of years. He had to start from scratch, rebuilding the program. Think about it. 80 players, mostly brand new to the coach and each other. What happened the 1st year back? Took that team to a bowl game!

Surely, the guys footing the bill for a new coach, know that any coach worth anything , will want say in who is on his staff.

LOL. That may be what you "think" Auburn can get. You have either let the noise or let yourself believe Auburn can name its coach and go get him but in reality, it is not an attractive job. Not most of the time and certainly not right now.

I love you man. Just like Jville. You are young and have big thoughts you are just too blind to see.
