Anyone hear Cole Cueblic?

I did, and posted about it in the other thread mid-day. Cole said unequivocally that the reason Napier turned down the job is because "he didn't know who his boss was going to be". Cole referenced the boosters/PTB, Auburn having an "interim president", and an AD whose contract is soon up for review.

He did not infer that Napier was being required to retain certain staff members, as has been inferred elsewhere -- but I could see that as a possibility.

ETA: Gouge is no longer officially an "interim", but I'm reporting how Cole characterized him

All the shite show that has been going on the past two weeks is just making it even harder for Auburn to hire a coach. All the "insiders" and BS being posted and reposted is just making things worse

No great head coach has ever been hired here and one wont be anytime soon.

Auburn may be able to hire Bill Clark for the "He is all we could get to come" but that will be about it

Everyone keeps implying Gouge is interim even though the BoT took that tag off him in February. Especially Ron Sanders on 247.

Yeah, and that makes Napier's objection, if true, point even more toward BOT members/Booster meddling, and ADAG's future.

But this board was so happy when Gus was fired. There has to be a better coach right? 21M is worth it. Right?

Exposing our farce of a decision making Board hopefully will be worth it. Had we kept Gus we would have dealt with this 3 years from now

Correct. Were you not?

There are several actually.

Absolutely. This doesn’t change the fact that Gus wasn’t fit for the job. What no one expected was for people to be sabotaging the entire thing, running off every remotely decent candidate.

love how no one wants to bring up the fact that this guy was steering kids away from Auburn when he was in HS. Now we're trying to convince ourselves he's an option for our position.

I’ll address this, do you have a kid who might be able to play college football? If so, would you want your kids coach to steer him to where his best opportunity would be? Do you think Auburn was a better opportunity than Alabama was? I mean, I love Auburn, but I am also a realist. I am VERY familiar with Coach Clark’s time at Prattville High School. He never steered a kid away from Auburn for somewhere that was a lesser opportunity. You don’t want him as coach? That’s fine, maybe even fair, but be honest and accurate.

That makes more sense than "he doesn't have say on who is on his staff". I just can't see trying to hire a coach, and not letting him have full say as to who is on his staff. If anything, give him full control, base salary, and massive incentives that are goal oriented.

I've lived and worked in Prattville since 1999. I've NEVER heard a bad word spoken about Bill Clark. If anything, he is known as man of integrity, and his players give all they have for him. That last carries some weight considering the success he's had at ALL of his positions.

After watching Gus on the sidelines for the past 8 years, I am convinced he had a mental break right around the Jeremy Johnson years. His antics on the sidelines were not of someone that had it together.

Yet somehow that crazy bastard beat 2 #1 ranked teams in a row and took us to the sec championship.

If not for a major injury, probably would have won it too.

I’m glad Gus is gone even if Auburn struggles to find a coach immediately.

The mentally challenged offense under Gus is finally over.

Yet somehow that crazy bastard lost over and over to beatable UGA and LSU teams, a bad Tennessee team, Miss State multiple times, a non P5 school, and for the first time in almost 100 years South Carolina.

Let’s not even get started on his bowl record.

I told you folks a week or so back they would want an OC type coach so they would keep most of the Defensive staff.
