The only thing that improved was the play calling in my opinion. My guess is that "plan" was thrown out to light a fire under some arse, but if 26 more yards and a few less sacks is all that was improved upon then the motivation failed.

Also - board feels kind of dead other than petty infighting...

We’re approaching mid October..sitting at 3-2 with a 1st year Coach, just settling in to meat-grinder portion of the season in the SEC West…

…and this is a college football message board/discussion forum.

Of COURSE there’s petty infighting.

But, I’ve gotta say?…although this is my 1st season with ya’ll?…and I’ve been part of and participated in A LOT of petty infighting on a couple of other boards dating all the way back to the “dial-up-internet-connection-days” in my time…I’ve really gotta hand it to you folks.

You can in-fight as good or even BETTER than the other Auburn boards where I’ve hung my hat & slummed around.

Now? As far as what QB CHF is gonna trot out to start against LSU on Saturday?

For what it’s worth?…I don’t think it’s a great idea to roll out a brand new, untested QB, for his 1st “start”….on the road…in Baton Rouge…at night.

That’s the kind of shite nightmares are made of.

Say what you want about Ashford or Thorne…but at least they’ve already had their respective trials by fire & have had to scramble for their lives enough already…and they know what they’re potentially up against and hopefully have developed a reasonable “coping” skill-set from their previous traumatic experiences and could potentially make reasonable adjustments?

Personally?…I don’t think throwing a fresh, wet-behind-the-ears, rookie QB into the belly of the beast in Death Valley at night for his 1st handful of collegiate snaps under Center as a starter is a sound idea?

The game has barely crossed my mind this week. Much more important matters going on around the world.

Pretty much.

Let’s be honest. Play calling was much better.

My Take:
We still suck at short yardage which is disheartening to a team. Where is Jackson? Try the big back with quick feet.

Thorne played better. Seemed to feed off the crowd a little and had some good runs. He had like 4 drops for 75yds more passing. His ceiling is probably 200yds with YAC a key. Would not hesitate to pull him if he’s playing like shite any week.

Our defense is freaking good. We played well. We hit. Depth hurts at certain spots in a game of that quality opponent.

We just need to keep running the ball, quick passes that are like runs and then take a shot. But that short stuff needs to be creative each week- formations etc
WR need to grow up. You’re in the SEC, raise the focus. They aren’t going to get 30 throws, got to be ready when they do.

It stills feel like we don’t know how to win a close game when the level spikes late. We hope the other team loses it.

Our defense is good and Jox roundtable hit the nail on the head this morning regarding them meeting our expectations. We kinda expected a pretty good defense. Defense has the most SEC-like recruits. Defense has the consistency. They are what one could expect of the defense. DL and linebackers need to get a lot better though.

Freeze came in and nearly knocked out Georgia while we hopefully have the worst team ever under his tenure. He has also kept the noise about Auburn on the field. So his tenure so far has been positive. However,

The offense is a major let-down. I remember when Jeremy Johnson completed 63% of his passes, 14 of them, for 61 yards against Georgia. That isn't much different than what we are seeing now. I will feel better if we lose 42-30 to LSU while leading the total yardage at this point. It isn't about wins or losses. It is about marked improvement. I never thought he would change our offensive footprint over night, but the continued passing offense lows are surprising. It isn't like Cadillac is still our interim. It isn't like we never landed a QB in the portal or upgraded the WR room. :)

I actually listened to Paul today and fans are still calling Paul saying Auburn should have hired Cadillac. I feel like a lot of those idiots that say things like that are on here and it is their lifegoal to raise my blood pressure.

This is where I want to see more Jeremiah Cobb. He’s perfect for this role

I heard we were working on the concept of the forward pass at practice this week.

I wish Ashford wasn’t so inconsistent. We could be okay with a 2013 kind of offense.

He’s looked more consistent than Throne.

TBH I'm gearing up for the potential 0-2 the next 2 weeks by ordering a new hunting saddle (note the name). Depending on how we look I may spend most of the rest of the fall "innawoods" as it were.

During some of our really bad seasons my hobbies get a lot more attention haha

Thorne wasn’t the reason we lost to uga. Our WRs have a virus and the illness is the ball hitting them in the chest

no he wasn't. IF everybody played as well as Thorne did, on both sides of the ball, we win by two TD's.

9 dropped passes by receivers where the ball hit them in the hands. I remember several of them being WTF type of drops
