Yes sorry, Autry, for some reason I insist on calling him by the wrong name. Didnt I read that on here before that they had a discussion about him being an offensive tackle

He’s going to get a shot on defense during the spring, but I think he’ll ultimately end up at OT. Coaches didn’t pursue some targets after Babalola committed to Michigan because they thought Autry’s future is at OT. They think he’ll be a damn good one too.

Really?! All I hear about is his talent along the DLine even during Mississippi Alabama all-star week. shite is giving me bad flashbacks, but the coaches know best?

CTT made a pretty good living converting DL to OL. Grubbs for one. IIRC there were others.

back when HCs made $100k a year and buyouts were nonexistent this seemed a lot more ominous

now its like,”well shite, i got canned, guess i’ll cash my $15 million check and take a few months off to figure out my next career move”

Depends on how he develops from a pad level standpoint point if he can’t play lower he will get moved to OL.

But so far he’s shown enough bend in high school to be able to play 0 tech. He’s probably agile enough to play 3 tech

This is basically exactly what I heard, I think his ceiling is higher as an OT than DT.

Thanks Smuphy, I thought you had mentioned before, good news for us.

Corch, judging from that eval, sounds like he would make a great prospect for OT. Given the worth of a left tackle Id bet it wouldnt take much convincing for him to agree.

Now DT for the fall takes on some renewed vigor in the portal. Right now we have Blocton, Z Walker, Jamison-Travis, and the Dallas Walker portal pick up.

Id bet, given his physical development Jourdan Crawford plays early and often. Coleman I dont know enough.

Still means we need a good DT in the portal, not just a "filler".

Thoughts?

I totally agree I think the biggest need on the team is a true 3tech that can be a starter level. If he can be an impact player even better.

Coleman is very solid but won’t come into fall ready to give 30-40 snaps a game. I think Crawford could give us a solid 20 snaps. Bobby Travis is probably the best player at the 0tech so gotta coach ‘em up. We have tons of talent just have to get them ready to play. Luckily our front appears to be simple to run.

Thanks corch. Good news is, its one of the few remaining pieces versus the gaping holes the past few years.

I look forward to spring to see how things shape up.

Apparently Auburn could be bringing back Izavion Miller at right tackle. Don't know how to feel about this. He's got all the physical tools, but his performance was very inconsistent, maybe the injuries affected his play? Strange times

So who do we have at tackle, or could play tackle:

The two we just signed
Wade if he had to slide back outside
Jaden Muskrat who played some tackle before for us better inside
Seth Wilfred
Favour Edwin
Tyler Johnson
Izavion Miller possibly
Senda but he is interior correct?
Malik Autry possibly

Assuming Chaplin is a given at left OT, surely surely we can find a good tackle on the rest of this list.

Looks like Thompson is still in play. Said UTk is still battling but Auburn/LSU are in it. Nakos said some sources feel like LSU may lead.

To clarify since it needs to be spelled out, due to the Diego Pavia ruling the NCAA announced an extra year of eligibility for all juco products.

Too Tall and Keionte were both candidates to return although I doubt we pressed for Keionte

Would you not assume at this point that Chaplin and Murphy would be the starters?

I know it can change but would that not be the consensus?

Probably my least favorite Portal pickup. Dude is in poor shape, has bad technique, and just stepped aside while our QB was sacked.
