Personally would of rather gave Ashton 750k to be a backup than Deuce 2M

Not if you feel he starts the following season. 2M is have a starting salary. It is worth it.

That’s encouraging. I hate that he went into the Portal at all. I appreciate the way AG has handled this- “we’d love to have you, but, if you don’t want to be here, we won’t beg. We are moving on to do what we need to do to fill the QB room.”
He will be in the same position here as anywhere he goes. He's got spring and summer to learn a new offense. Maybe he’s seeing that the grass isn’t greener after all.
But, if he needed to do that to appreciate where he is now, then that’s cool.

Yes, we passed on him out of HS. He was a 4-star OT that would have signed here.

For sure - we'll never have a better situation given that DK has the opportunity to learn the offense from a 3 year veteran.
If we're not extending ourselves (I think we are) to keep him, we might as well fold up shop. We should have $2 M in spare change floating around.

That was never even possible as Ashton wants to be a starter and he has only one year left.
