Never said it was the end all be all. Freeze and Ron Zook taught us that. I'm saying you need both. I believe Indiana is a rare case not the norm. Plus they haven't won the title yet...... Let's see if they beat Oregon and play for a championship.

Cingetti looks like a hard arse like Saban. We need similar from Golesh. Maybe thats why so many transfers. Coach has to have his players give 100 and if not hit the road no matter how talented you are. Hugh proved that 100percent from a 3 star is better than half effort from 5 stars.
Indiana and Auburn were polar opposites last year. You could see their guys giving their all up by 30 points. They wanted to win, not just get paid

Spurrier didn’t recruit well. Didn’t get the 5 stars. But on the field he beat the ones with a roster that on paper was much better.

Does the Rose Bowl finally prove that coaching > talent?

No, not at all. Excellent coaching > slightly above average coaching when the talent level is decent across the board.

As alluded to in prior posts, QB play is supreme, and Mendoza is very talented. Getting him was superior talent acquisition.

I think that we are going to see that, even with a substantial talent reduction, we will be a much better team next year.

That only speaks to the deficiencies of Freeze as a coach. Being better than a team that lost to Kentucky at home is no statement on how coaching might mean more that talent.

Are you suggesting that the Florida recruiting classes from the 90s weren't elite? what are we arguing? Do you not remember the talent they had on that roster that destroyed us almost every year? Read a Forest Davis recruiting magazine to remind yourself lol

you start out by getting the best you can get at the most important position on the field (QB). It doesn’t matter how much talent you have surrounding the Thorne’s and Arnold’s of the world.

You’re looking at high school rankings in the portal day and age?

Everyone that has eyes saw 2 shite QBs that got benched at their previous schools and one that came into Jordan Hare with subpar talent surrounding him and was damn near perfect.

Golash and his staff need to take aim at Bama stars who know they are currently on a sinking ship.

Scouting is a big part, but it is coaching, coaching, coaching. Auburn has not had an assistant on staff that could properly evaluate QBs or properly coach their position since Al Borges/Bobby Petrino. That is also part of the reason thinks like the above happen.

We knew plenty about Mendoza when he whipped our arse at Cal. At that point recruiting rankings are out the window

he's probably gonna blow up the combine and nobody will blame him for this year's suckage though. I think he can be late 3-4th round at best.

Dude is 6'5" and the smartest person on the field. HS recruiting rankings are void when they show up on campus.

Three of the best teams in the country are as close to Auburn as any school almost. It wouldnt be hard to put together a better team with their scraps than we had this year
