The JMU tailback is currently running all over Bama

I figured Drago would have to go the old piss/Texas tech route for a few years, go heavier on the portal over high school, build street cred, and then start building from high school. I just was hoping he could hold onto more current players and build from there. I guess he is doing ok when there’s really only 5-6 players out of 30 leaving that we really want to stay.

It will be worth it for a major program culture change

There have been 20-30 years of the most talented teams winning. There's just one TCU and one Indiana. Just because Indiana is doing it doesn't mean it will work for us. I just don't want everyone to start acting like somehow we'll do it without elite talent just because a bad Bama team is getting rolled.

Does the Rose Bowl finally prove that coaching > talent? I think Hugh also lended credence to it.
Indiana has no starting 5* players and only three 4* players.
I think that we are going to see that, even with a substantial talent reduction, we will be a much better team next year.

My favorite quote when teams get a coaching change.
Amazing how many "culture" changes there are out there.

Man if I only had a dollar for everything that was brought up last year.
Great players will not make a bad coach a good coach. It may mask it a touch but it wont change it.
And I remain with my statement. QB is the "most important position on the field". And you wont win without "the guy" at that position no matter what.
It should be #1 and #2 on the list

What a strange tone deaf post. 10 USF guys to help set the culture, 10-15 developed 21+ year olds, throw mills at as many o linemen you can, throw the rest of the mils at ~ 5 skill guys/d guys.
Then pray Golesh is half the coach Cignetti is.
The formula makes sense and seems repeatable. Not like IU is the special place where miracles happen.

So what has happened more consistently? stacking elite talent...... AND DEVELOPING THEM or Grinding it out with 3* dudes for a magical season with a Heisman QB? I'm not suggesting that we should repeat the stupidity of freeze..... Just that we need to KEEP bringing in high level players, but this time (Actually put them in positions to win).

That's why it was a strange post. Obviously you don't stop going after the 5 star guys. But if indiana isn't proving to you that you can find 5 star guys other places besides on3 and 247 you need your ticker checked homie
If Golesh isn't studying Cig he's losing already.

Bro I know it's possible
just less PROBABLE. That's all I'm saying.

Indiana is showing what Jang, Lanier and myself have been saying over and over: you start out by getting the best you can get at the most important position on the field (QB). It doesn’t matter how much talent you have surrounding the Thorne’s and Arnold’s of the world. You aren’t winning crap without great QB play.

I'll be curious to see how many bama players hit the portal starting tomorrow.
Posted on 1/1/26 at 6:07 pm to Johnnycrane
Not only is it possible. I think it's gonna turn out to be the meta in this era of cfb.

You are right. Talent is needed. But look at programs like TCU , Utah, Boise over the years. Look at Vandy and Georgia Tech this year. Talent makes it easier but its not the end all. If you cant coach them, its a waste.
On the other hand, having a bad arse trigger man, makes up for a lot talent.
