Our OL sucked last year so not sure how big a deal losing everyone is, but hard to imagine we are going to end up in a great place
Finding 5 starting OL in the portal is going to be a huge challenge. Then also finding good backs up for them.. We legit need like 7 or more OL in the portal. Its just hard to imagine that many quality OL players coming to a rebuild unless we massively overpay, which we already know they won't do.

Spots, I’m talking about all the roster. For the most part, it’s not cheaper to bring in the same talent than what is leaving.

Totally agree. Its always better to keep the talent you have especially if you feel they can contribute

But I still ask. Do you have some inside info that these guys are leaving because they are not getting the appropriate pay?

The bodies will be there. A lot of guys enter the portal to see market value. The question will be if we are willing to pay. If you are a starting tackle for a P4 program, you would be crazy not to enter the portal. Those dudes are behind QB for how valuable they are.

ETA

I wouldn't be shocked if we didnt make a run at Ryan Williams. His skillset is tailored for AGs offense

I don’t believe many have this info. Hoke put out that article essentially saying the previous staff had been overpaying compared to production, now everyone assumes all the players are being low-balled. Which to me was just misinterpreted.

Spots, Absolutely not, and I’ve said several times none of us do. But, if you have to pay a little more to keep someone than you may think they are worth sometimes it may be necessary.

For the majority of people, rather it be players or employees, , it’s about the pay

We CLEARLY had the money to keep these guys happy through 2 years of misery so where the hell is this money going now?

We've confirmed to be keeping one starter as of now and there's been zero news of potential adds other than a handful of USF guys.

Mckibaj, 100% agree and many were was so excited as AU was resetting the values of each player. Their point was “proven” by us not being willing to pay to keep guys leave like Crawford or Williams.

I have zero idea what was offered, only the belief if the guy fits your d, which both do, why not try to keep them instead of getting in a bidding war once the portal officially opens.

Again, it was in reference to the perception we were low balling players due to their lack of production.

I have no idea what we offered or how close we came to stop them from checking out “ free agency” but if we did low ball, shame on us!

Excuse me?

I’ve been saying pay them, not my cash and we seem to have plenty. Hell, this yrs roster was 20 mill and we supposedly have 30 mil. Should be able to keep who we want and easily fill the holes

I keep seeing people say we need a culture reset when we are in one of the most culturally defining eras of college football. The game is about money and that’s it. These 18 year old kids don’t give a rats arse about tradition or how good we were when our grandpas were at Auburn. This is the reality. If we can’t convince a kid from phenix city to love Auburn and it be about culture we can’t do it. The time for that has passed and if we ain’t ready to spend w the big dogs we’re done and we need to accept that.

The report about changing NIL to incentive based is the big one to me. The way I read that, players have to take a pay cut but can potentially make it back or more if they meet certain incentives. The problem with that is that it seems we are one of the very few doing that, so instead of taking a pay cut with the chance to earn it back (Maybe the new coach doesn't play you as much, maybe you get hurt etc) they are electing to look for guaranteed money elsewhere.

Two things stand out to me right now though:

1- Amaris Williams said he was coming back and then the next day announced he was going into the portal. Whats the story there? Why did it change overnight?

2- Yesterday Tom Loy said the coaching staff felt good about keeping Cam. He didn't just make that up. That means someone from the staff spoke to him and told him that. So what's the story there? Why did it change overnight? Or are the coaches just kind of clueless about what any of the players are doing?

No announcements from Duece, Singleton, Cobb, Melendez, Riddick, Deas, Woodby, Pleasant, Harris, Fegans or Winters about coming back yet. It seems like if any of those we're locks to come back they would announce something like they did with Atkins.

Will LSU have similar roster turnover?

Or is our coach just special?

Probably. Their OL was worse than ours. I would imagine Lane pulls on OM hard.
