just not enter the portal or make visits?
I’m not sure about the visits part. I saw Durkin with someone last night (not sure who?) during halftime of the bball game. Could be a HS recruit I guess.

Yesterday was junior day so most likely.

That makes sense. JHS had the signs lit up for “Tiger Day”. I didn’t really know what that meant.

So now we are transitioning to slower portal period, how does everyone feel re incoming/outcoming and how our staff did?

I take you that you call it a loss for the year?

I don't hate much about it other than I wish we got a couple more guys on the Oline that are hard starters.
I think we lost on overall talent in the receiver room but I think we have guys that will play their roles and not create drama. And the talent isn't that far off from what left. Simmons was talented but the way he left makes you think he was a problem all year. Coleman is a big loss in overall talent but Auburn has never utilized a top draft pick receiver before.
I hate we lost Deuce for the future, but Brown will be a better starter this year in the transition and there is nothing saying that Deuce, or someone better, doesn't come in next year. I call it a wash here.
Rb room is better I would say.
OL is the biggest question mark. It's not like our line was great last year and we lost it, we just haven't replenished the numbers. We might be better this year but not as deep.
Dline. another question mark. the guys that left weren't world beaters and we got some good guys. for now, I am calling it a wash except for depth loss.
We lost a couple linebackers and didn't get any in so that is a loss no matter what.
We got hurt at corner. Crawford and Lee would be tough to replace in the portal and we didn't replace them in talent. we got some young guys that are project type guys that could be good.
I guess, overall, it is a loss but I think the team will be better and play together better.

Agreed. The whole will be better than the sum of its parts. We have enough experienced pieces to show “proof of concept” this fall. That should translate to more wins, which in turn, translates into attracting the players we need to compete at the level we want to.

I guess this is why I hate to lose Deuce now but it's not a game changer that we lost him. Brown will just be more ready to start under this new offense than Deuce was. Bringing Brown's receivers will only make it transition better. that's why the Oline scares me most.

Looking at each position group:
QB room is hard to say, but I’ll say push. Brown is an obvious upgrade but the backup quality will be less overall unless proven otherwise like Daniel’s did this year.
WR room, downgrade in raw talent but I think they will be a better group. Not sure anyone we’ve gotten is a better athlete than Coleman but I think Singletons are a push (Eric is a better overall player, but I think Keshaun would still be more productive in this offense). I think Koger will be better than Thompson. Incoming freshman Spencer I think will end up being better than Simmons too.
TE room is a clear upgrade.
OL room, while I’d like to get another solid starter level guy, I think at worst it’s a push on what transferred out. Carter has a ton of untapped potential but so far hasn’t shown close to it. Him and Hedrick are a push in my eyes. I think even upgraded at Tackle, even if it isn’t to the level everyone wants.
DL room is tough gauge. Don’t think anybody we’ve gotten is clear better than Williams but Womack is pretty close to him. He is a good one. Mathis I think is as good if not better than Blocton, then the rest of the guys we brought in I think are upgrades over Waller, Ash, and Coleman.
LB room not really brought anybody in and losing Woodyard is a bit tough but retaining Atkins and the young guys was what was needed.
DB room slight downgrade on the outside but I think upgrade at safety. I do really like the youth and potential we’ve brought in here with Arnoux and Scrap. Could have a solid room with our current young guys if they stick together.

I guess this is why I hate to lose Deuce

Me too. When I saw BB’s highlights, I thought about how Deuce could flourish in this offense. It seems to be tailor made for him. He could have spent the year learning from BB and AG, then taken over the reins in ‘27. Could have been explosive.
Now, Chambliss will probably get his injunction, and Deuce will sit behind him. Will he stay there for ‘27? Or, will he move somewhere else?
These deals really need to be at least two years, with out clauses based on mutual agreement.

So it’s not just me thank god. Thought I might have been out of touch there for a moment.
