From The Tennessean...
Pavia entered the transfer portal shortly after Kill announced his retirement from New Mexico State on Dec. 24, two days after Beck was hired as Vanderbilt's new offensive coordinator. He took visits to Vanderbilt, North Texas, UTSA and Nevada - and in fact, committed to Nevada during his visit per ESPN.

Sounds like he was shopping. Could've had him for a candy bar but wouldn't matter with HF coaching him.

Because 5 NMSU coaches were hired by Vandy in the off-season?

He committed to Nevada after Kill left. He took multiple visits, none of them were to noteworthy P5 teams.

Vanderbilt was 2-10 last season. He flipped to Vanderbilt after Kill got hired there. But again, this was a 2-10 team.

Nobody noteworthy wanted Pavia.

While I agree with you on this, Hugh had two years worth of seeing what Pavia could do up close and didn't even send out a feeler?

Sure, but again this applies to every school in the country. There are coaches who would have been scouting our games (because we play them) who would have seen Pavia vs. AU last year, and they chose to take different QB's instead. Everyone had access to Pavia's game tape. Kentucky took two transfer QB's and neither of them was Pavia.

Pavia isn't even the best "small school" QB that was available. The kid at Indiana who came from Ohio is having an even better season than Pavia is. But again, it's easy to point this out in hindsight and harder to make the decision to bet on a G5 QB in the moment.

I'm guessing that around, during, before, and after the

week of Dec 24

that Hugh was talking to any QB who would listen. A dozen wouldn't surprise me and all probably highly sought after.

F this guy. We missed on Ward and the Notre Dame QB. This dude played like trash and got bailed out by our terrible offensive play calling.

This is such horseshite. He followed Kill and Beck. Clark Lea didn't even go to New Mexico to get Pavia. He went to talk to Kill and ended up hiring him and Beck and the players followed them.

I mean, why did he end up at mighty Vanderbilt then? You're making it sound like this kid had offers from Ohio State and company.

I'm sure that lots of teams are wishing they took him. The fact that he ended up at Vanderbilt would imply that he didn't get any interest from high level P5 teams.

He was headed to UNLV when Kill got the Vandy job and diverted him. No one wanted him until now.

Having said that, Freeze had seen him in person 2x. He should have thought it through, but might not have gotten him anyway with the Kill connection.

Pavia got his clock cleaned vs. mighty South Carolina.

16 for 32, 166 yards.

Dude was crap last week against us too.

This is the guy that would have taken our crap team to the playoffs LOL?

I’m tired of the hype too.

S Car is a damn good team and should actually only have 1 loss to Ole Miss
