Watching that game you couldnt help but think, an outside run....Amaris Williams would have contained that, pass over the middle Demarcus would have had that, those dropped passes any of the Freeze five would have caught it, and a couple would have been taken to the house. Keep the faith.

This won’t be happening. See Florida. Freeze needs to be shooting for 8-10 wins next season.

10 wins?
Have you looked at the schedule? At least 5 teams had 10-11 wins this year.

The good news is that the schedule is more favorable to us next season. We have a real shot (we could always frick it up of course) to be 4-0 heading into Oklahoma week. The bad news is that this game proves there is still a long, long way to go. This is our third straight losing season, and it’s because we haven’t been catching the breaks we used to back in the 2010s. In the first half, we had an explosive play and try to go hurry up to capitalize, but one of our players is squabbling with Maryland’s players and progress is stalled. Early fumble should have been a conversion to points, but our guys avoided that ball like the plague. If you’re committed to being disciplined and performing at a consistent level, you capitalize on that momentum and score. Our program is not at the point yet where the culture and attitude is a winning one. Too many playing soft, scared, or dumb. We can go 9-3 or better next year, but we need some fire and passion and consistency. It’s not there.

I think that’s the fault of both the staff and the players. This staff seems to have a
hard time prioritizing between playcalling and recruiting and the portal. On the other hand, there isn’t adequate leadership among the players.

Beat any of these 3, uga-lsu-bama, I’ll consider us headed in the right direction.

Beat 2, I’ll be impressed.

All 3? I’ll be floored.

Well we don’t play LSU next year so that should be doable.

If the talent keeps coming in we are going to be fine. If we had a halfway decent offense this year, we would have beaten both Georgia and Alabama. Hopefully Freeze will not have some sort of Gus pride and insist on keeping Thorne #1 for no good reason. Goal for next year should be to bring the scoring average up to 35 or more. That would get us to 9 wins no issue.

Well, we've beaten the corndogs more recently, so that can slide a bit.

“Should haves” won on some others, but hell... step up.

Nothing. We just need to get better in all aspects. True freshman generally aren’t the answer especially multiple ones playing important roles

Screw that. We should’ve had seven wins this year. Eight if you count New Mexico State

Eight is a good floor, barring major injuries

2 blow outs in last 3 with both losses being against meh teams is not getting better as the year goes on. There is no excuse for not being ready to play TWICE on 3 games. We just had a team play 3 games and 2 of them, they didn’t look ready to play or concerned with winning.

I’m inclined to agree. Gus, i mean Hugh can get talent here but can’t forge them into a team. We’re not a cohesive group, just a collection of individual athletes who sadly are all acting like free agents.

Freeze will have a short Auburn career if hasn't figured out that he can't trust his OC to develop a game plan by himself.
