I have criticisms of Freeze's first year, but I can ignore almost all of them because he nailed the one thing that really mattered for long term success, recruiting. We should all now appreciate even more how Hugh went full blast into recruiting before the ink was even dry on his contract. DeBoer is failing that part of his job right now. We all knew he would, but it's nice to be right about this one.

Freeze also nailed the OC hire today too, which will boost recruiting

It's crazy to watch. I'm shocked they aren't recruiting their own roster better.

This is just hearsay but The staff they hired from UW hasn't even made it to TTown yet and they haven't had anyone working on player retention.

They're spread too thin trying to keep the 24 class, work on the 25 class, and keep their current players.

There is literally no one left from the previous staff that knows any of these kids. Saban the crypt keeper sitting in his office ain’t gonna want to babysit a roster of 100 kids now that he is retired.

He may have timed it good for the incoming ‘24 class but for the portal class the timing was terrible for the new coach. Which rushed the hire even more.

Freeze’s window is now and his opportunity for a title run is ‘25 if we’re going to make anything happen. Deboer will tank that situation in Tuscaloosa and they will hire someone huge in ‘26 like Sark or Kiffin or Ryans and if we’re not up on plane by then the window will slam shut quickly.

I'm reading Bamas NIL is complete shite. Maybe the better marketing ploy for On To Victory would be "Bama sucks. We are better. Join now."

They are not getting Sark or Ryans. Those were pipe dreams

They keep repeating that Courtney Morgan was going to keep them all together. He’s DeBoer’s “secret weapon”…again, according to Bama fans.

Of course they also said he built the Michigan championship roster, but he was only at Michigan one season

Sark is at a much better situation. Texas has money up the Yun Yang. He has things trending the right way. Their NIL will always be one of the top 2 college football. In the current world of NIL that’s hard to beat. It will also mean more when this thing transfers to contracts.

Alabama has a great NIL system. Don't let them fool you. The problem now is a bunch of other schools also have a great NIL and they also lost their all time great head coach and replaced him with a guy no one in the SEC knows.

This hire has been mismanaged at a legendary level. It's nice to see Bama become Bama 00s again in terms of disorganization, decision making, and meddling.

Bama nor us will ever rival the two Texas schools baskets of money. Don’t fool yourself. Sark won’t be leaving Texas to Bama unless it’s because he was fired. That’s the point of my post.

Surely RW isnt going to say onboard after all of this.

RW wasn't on board when Saban was still there. He's privately been all Auburn for months and the nuclear inferno going on in Tuscaloosa certainly isn't going to change his mind.

BREAKING: Sources tell Barstool Ole Miss that Auburn and head coach Hugh Freeze are “very close” to signing former Ole Miss recruiting coordinator Barney Farrar.

Emphasis mine.

Looks like Freeze is getting the band back together.

I would keep an eye on the Texas visit and might be a place RW ultimately picks.

Gets him away from the circus and an established QB in a Sark offense. Would be very tempting to me were I in his shoes.
