I feel a bit better about portal recruiting with this news.

Corner, safety, and maybe 2 D linemen. Coaches seem to want another receiver. Surely we can grab some elite prospects in the Alabama portal chaos, or the pending Florida State chaos.

Here’s the portal additions so far

2024 Transfers:
WR Robert Lewis - GA State
DT Gage Keys - Kansas
LB Dorian Mausi - Duke
WR Sam Jackson V - California
DT Trill Carter - Texas
TE Rico Walker - Maryland
OT Percy Lewis - Mississippi State

These aren’t splashy transfers. However, unlike last year, they’re almost all P5 transfers and they’ve all got limited eligibility. It’s a gradual step up that keeps the 2 deep open for the young guys without taking too many risks on G5 kids.

I’m confident Freeze wants to go 14-0 next season. But I think he also knows his 2023 class is really good, and the 2024 class is way better and mostly on campus now. He’s not putting road blocks on the 2 deep before he stacks the roster with talented young guys first. It’s a gamble

Is this recruiting

https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-ncaa-levies-significant-penalties-on-florida-state-for-nil-recruiting-violations-002044975.html

In a first of its kind in the NIL era, the school must disassociate with the NIL collective representative for a term of three years. The school also must disassociate from the NIL collective for one year. As part of the dissociation, FSU cannot accept assistance from the collective and the collective cannot contribute to the athletic program in any way. However, the collective is free to continue working with FSU athletes on NIL endeavors.

I like our additions so far. We need grunt guys as much as anything and I think we got some of those type guys. As you said, not flashy but I think guys that are all hard workers and not problematic guys.

As much as most posts

I think a lot of NIL changes are coming. Not necessarily because of the NCAA but more because of the IRS. A lot of collectives are setup as non profits and the government will come knocking sooner than later.

Fortunately , Auburn’s OTV is not in that camp

- a reduction by seven in official recruiting visits for 2023-24.

- a prohibition on recruiting communication for six weeks over the next two academic years, including this next week (Jan. 12-18).

- a prohibition on communication with athletes in the transfer portal from April 15-21.

- a reduction by 18 evaluation days this spring.

- a financial penalty of 1% of the athletic department’s budget.
Sounds like a step up from wrist slapping

Keenan Britt tweeted “about that time” and a sand timer

That’s KJ Britt’s little brother right?

He is a really good ball player. He's a '26 kid (unless he somehow reclassified, but I haven't heard anything like that).

He has played a ton of football due to depth issues at Oxford after Etheridge went to Auburn. He's been playing 6A football, in a pretty good region, since he was in 8th grade. Just take a look at his most recent season film and keep reminding yourself he was only 15 or 16 years old .

Random question, but has anyone heard any updates on Demario Tolan? He transferred in last year, but they stepped away because he was going through some personal stuff. I'm guessing he's not coming back, but just curious if anyone has heard anything.
