Some quotes from On3 for 4* LB Sterling Dixon

quote:

“It’s definitely a change. I honestly love what they’re doing,” he said. “They’re making it hard on Alabama. They’re definitely doing that. I love what Coach (Hugh) Freeze is doing. I love what (linebackers coach Josh) Aldridge is doing. And, it’s crazy. Auburn is definitely going to be a great school.”

quote:

“I was talking to Coach Aldridge — as soon as I got to the door, he was excited to see me,” Dixon said. “He gave me a big hug and really just welcomed me and my family. We just felt good about it. I came here with a big smile on my face and I really enjoyed the visit.”

Looks like Auburn is working on 4* DL Terrance Hibbler hard

quote:

“It’s lit up here,” he said “Everything … I just like everything.”

quote:

“Auburn is at the top of the list for sure,” Hibbler told Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston in March. “I guess I would say because of all the love they are showing me right now. The head coach (Freeze), he calls me like twice a week, every week. Nobody else is really doing that, so I know it’s love.

Pink and JLee with the quotes. I think Pink has been hitting the interviews hard. We’ve got a good group of paysite guys right now that recruits actually want to talk to

Recruit reactions from Clemente:

Jeremiah Beaman:
quote:

"Honestly I don’t really have no particular standings right now, but I definitely like it down here," Beaman said. "Yeah, they’ll definitely be in it until the end."

quote:

"I got to talk to Coach Garrett, Coach Cadillac (Williams), Coach Freeze," Beaman said. "It was just a good experience. Yeah, definitely made me a high priority. Made me feel like home. I like that."

quote:

"I watched Jayson Jones, (Jeffrey) M’ba, (Enyce) Sledge, all my guys I know," Beaman said. "They did pretty good today."

What keeps him coming back:
quote:

"People around it," Beaman said about Auburn. "How much Sledge, Jayson, all the guys I know down here that train with me and tell me so much about it."

Says Auburn may get an official, but he'll for sure visit again this summer and for a few games.
quote:

"Definitely come back in the future," Beaman said. "Probably for a few games and I’m coming back later on in the summer."

Justin Greene:
quote:

"Georgia, LSU, Auburn, South Carolina," Greene said. "They’re kind of the frontrunners."

quote:

"They just show me the most love to be honest and it looks like they’re on the come up right now," Greene said. "I like what I’m seeing around here. I was talking with Walker (White), he’s committed here, he seems pretty cool."

quote:

"I just wanted to see how they play, how they run their defense," Greene said. "The last time I was here I didn’t get to see them actually practice since I left a little earlier. They were playing good, it was kind of slippery out there. I like how they’re moving around, they look fast."

quote:

"I got to talk with Coach Freeze a little bit, Coach Garrett," Greene said. "Just chopping it up. He was talking to me — he brought a couple of the recruits for a little meeting, he was just saying this ‘24 class can bring good athletes to Auburn. Make a culture."

He plans to take an OV before he commits in late July

Martavious Collins:
quote:

"Auburn I talk to the most," Collins said. "I talk to Coach Ben and them every day."

quote:

"I would say at the top," Collins said about Auburn in his recruitment.

quote:

"I know the weather was bad and everything, but I got a chance to see what they do on offense and stuff like that," Collins said. "It wasn’t the most beautiful day but I’m going to be back when I see more of what they do on offense."

quote:

"I’m probably not going to make my decision until I’m in the season," Collins said.

Asked if he believes they'll push to move up his commitment timeline:
quote:

"Most definitely yes,"

quote:

"Coach Freeze, they’re building a special place around here," Collins said. "The coaches that they have, they’re the type that’s going to be very welcoming and bring in and rebuild."

Sterling Dixon:
quote:

"It’s super close," Dixon said. "They’re definitely trying to get me."

quote:

"They’re definitely trying — they’re making it hard on Alabama," Dixon said. "They’re definitely doing that. I love what Coach Freeze is doing, I love what Coach Aldridge is doing. And it’s crazy, Auburn is definitely going to be a great school."

quote:

"I kind of first got here and honestly as soon as I walked in the door I was talking to Coach Aldridge," Dixon said. "He came came and saw me and gave me a big hug and welcomed me and my family. We just felt good about it. I came in with a big smile on my face and I really enjoyed the visit."

He " definitely" plans to OV and has been hearing from Auburn a lot and several commits including Burnette and have been recruiting him and fellow Bama commit Perry Thompson consistently.

quote:

"They’re talking to me every day," Dixon said. "Me and Perry were just talking about it. They’re hitting us up every day."

Courtney Crutchfield:
quote:

“I would give it a 10 out of 10, no doubt,” Crutchfield said. “I loved it.

quote:

“It was a fun environment,” he added. “I really enjoyed myself down here this weekend. I will be looking forward to getting back down here pretty soon.”

quote:

“It’s all about having fun,” Crutchfield said. “I didn’t see any negative energy when I was in the locker room. It’s all about love, fun. They went out and played hard and competed.”

On Walker White:
quote:

“You’ve got to have people like that around you more,” Crutchfield said. “He’s a good dude. He’s already committed. It would be nice to play with him, but it’s all about the decision I make at the time.

“We come from the same area. It’s good to have people like that in your corner. He has a great father. His brothers, they’re cool. They’re fun people to be around.”

He said he wants to take an OV to Auburn along with Arkansas, Oklahoma, LSU, and Tennessee

Cam Coleman quotes via KN:
quote:

“Even though it was raining they were still throwing the ball,” Coleman said. “Even though it was raining they were trusting their receivers to make good catches. It shows that they trust the receivers.”

quote:

“It’s very big,” he said. “No head coach has been talking to me like that. They’ve been talking to me but not like Coach Freeze has been communicating with me. That proves that he wants me.”

quote:

“It’s just been building and building,” Coleman said. “We’re starting to know each other very well. Coach Freeze, Coach Davis and Coach Reed — all the coaches.”

quote:

“It was cold and rainy, but it was nice,” Coleman said. “I got to see the spring game. So even though it was raining it was still fun. … Just coming to see what the new offense was about. I’ve seen them in practice but first time in game-like situation.”

How does Freeze have time to call all these HS recruits? What do they even talk about 2x per week?

at the Senior Bowl, Freeze said he was texting cruits at 4 a.m..

ETA It sounds like he is letting his coaches coach and his focus is on recruiting.

If you look at the administrative part of his staff he has quite a few people. Many of them have done interviews with various on line people and discussed their roles.

It seems these calls are very organized, what coaches call what kids and when. And it certainly was interesting how some of them knew quite a bit personally about what was going on with a recruit. I guarantee you Freeze has a cheat sheet of what he has discussed with what kid, well beyond "how was practice today". And the zoom calls in the office are being set up so he can rapid fire call several recruits in a short time.

I also heard one recruit comment "I call them twice a week". Which means someone is calling them and saying "coach wants you to call him tomorrow at 9am". Which means once again someone is scheduling these things so he can do many in a short amount of time.

The back room part of this process I find quite fascinating.

Freeze (or some right hand person) is incredibly organized and meticulous on handling recruiting efficiently as possible. His system alone is impressive and then you add his style of personal recruiting as well.

Collins not committing this weekend and then talking about dragging his decision out just doesn't sit right with me. He is far from a priority recruit, already got dropped by bama.. Either he commits or I'm ready to move on from him. There are way better TE's out there and out TE room isn't exactly lacking bodies anyway.

Maybe some wanted to commit and was told to hold off.

I think we are in a good spot considering the late start on this class. I don’t think Freeze this early is gonna put someone in the boat just for getting a commitment.
