But I’ll be honest, can’t quite remember the mood from back then.
Shaping up to be a breakout recruiting year... this is awesome.

I can remember post NC. We were all super excited about the NC. People knew the class was good but it was more "expected" than "exciting". I remember having discussions with fans from other teams - they said that we would fall off. I pointed out our good class. There was also an impression at the time that Malzahn was more of an "offensive savant" than a big time recruiter so that was more of the focus.

On3 rankings are terrible. Kam Franklin would turn this DL class into a really good one with Blocton, Lindsey, and the South FL guy.

On3 is very understaffed in their scouting department. It seems like if they don’t personally scout a player then they rank them low.

Him and Jamonta Waller are weird at On3

Waller is top 5 at his position everywhere but On3, where he’s #46 lol

Naw brah. Thats composite. On3 has him as a 3 star. Also look at how they rank him in state and nationally compared to the other sites. On3 is way off

On3 is trying to separate from the pack. Honestly I still like 247.

I don't go on those sites, I get my information here so I wasn't clueless about On3's rankings

The composites are most important and they reduce the influence any one site has on a particular recruit.

As far as I know, 247 doesn’t use On3’s rankings in their composite. Because of that, I like On3’s composite as the true ranking since they include everyone’s in their model

They all have their issues, IMO.

The guy at On3 responsible for the ranking (Charles Power) came out and said that he saw him in-person this spring/summer get measured at 6'0 and 1/2", 240 pounds, and ran a 4.95 forty. This is what went into their ranking.

Good for them for making their own call and not just following the trend of everyone else. Those are objectively not good measurables for a DE/LB tweener, especially if the argument is that he's a "5 star". If he was an NFL draft prospect he'd get pushed down for the same reasons.

Yep he did, and at least they explained it. Some sites aren’t willing to do that much

Kam Franklin showed up in AU today.

Doesn’t a dead period start tomorrow?

If so we have done just about everything imaginable to get kids before their seasons start.

Yea On3 generally will have a decent reason behind their rankings when they differed that much. Don’t know if I’ve seen one for Carter though. Doesn’t matter though, he is a very good player and we need all the OL help we can get.

Great info brother, it's nice to know that something's going into the rankings other than highlights and word of mouth. I wonder what he's performed like in camps against other top talent. 40 times are important to me, BUT if the best guy's in the country can't stop him, then I'll rank him ahead of the dudes who test well. I remember we signed a DB named drew Cole who ran a 4.3, but never saw the field. 40 times can be deceiving.
