It can't be that amazing. I can eat a Tootsie Roll and talk at the same time.

I'll take Bessent and Roberts for Evans. We are good at the STAR right now and can sign a top guy next year and won't even miss him on the field. Plus maybe Gus learned he can't take the high road when dealing with Saban.

Evans isn't a Star and would have never played the position here imo. The Star has to be good in coverage and in space and those are the 2 areas Evans struggled with according to the evaluators.

Why does the highlight video for Williams at auburntigers.com show a white kid catching passes?

I agree that I never understood the star pitch. Why not a pure linebacker, which is where I felt he would end up?

That should be a wrap. Press conference around 3 I'm guessing.

Evans showed out in coverage in summer camps... it was the one knock on him b/c of playing the DL in high school.

IMO, he would've been a good fit at star, but could've easily outgrown the position down the road and slid inside.

as others have mentioned before... he couldn't have gone wrong either way... bama has a more NFL proven track record, but for a guy who's never really played LB before and a depth chart that's pretty well stacked, he's going to have an uphill battle to get on the field... at least in his first year or two.

Yep, besides being from Auburn, Evans fit better at UA. Evans was never going to stay at the Star position, isn't built for the inside, and would have been undersized at DE with superior guys at the position already.

He made the right choice. But it's UAT, hence the melt-down.

I think time will tell if he fits better there or not... We've seen undersized LBs go to bama and disappear... two guys from the state of AL come to mind -- Tana Patrick and Jarrell Harris. Both guys would've been better suited for an OLB spot in a 4-3 scheme, but bit on the sells pitch and both are sitting at home right now.
