So are we expecting Tank to get 20 carries a game?
Better than Bo throwing 40 times a game I guess

The interesting variable in the backfield carries equation isn’t even a Runningback. It’s Bo Nix.

I’m betting he accounts for enough carries to keep both Tank’s load manageable and Barrett/Hunter’s load low.

I'd guess Bo needs around 8-12 carries in conference games as long as he's not banged up.

Hope we also develop the offense the way it's intended to be run. By the time we start conference games it's probably going to be sink or swim time on offense.

I want to win every game but I want the building of the foundation this year. Hope that makes sense.

Totally agree. I think you all know my feelings on the run/pass ratio

I certainly hope he doesn't have a November of 2017 Kerryon Johnson load on him all season. I don't think he could hold up physically under those circumstances.

It used to be that a running back "wanted to tote the rock" every play, "feed the beast" etc. We have seen bama, georgia, lsu etc. be very sucessful with 2-3 backs every game. I remember Damien Harris, who had his carries cut back his final year at bama, being asked if it hurt his draft prospects and he said quite the contrary, he has a "two year" body, meaning he had taken about half the toll on his body during college.

Using that analogy, some of our backs have entered the draft a dead man walking.

I just think using different backs makes it more difficult on the defense, particularly if you are throwing to them, and gives a breather to tank.

I don’t want Tank running the ball a whole lot just because I don’t want him dinged up, but he’s not as fragile as Kerryon was either.

Tank is our best weapon.

I think he will be “featured” on offense.

Does that mean 30 carries?

Possibly.

Could mean pass receptions too!

I went back and looked at the game stats just in Harsin's last year with BSU.

And it looks like he will use other backs, and not drive one back continuously into the ground. Now he did use the backs a lot on pass plays too, so in the end that helps them with their endurance as they are not getting hit hard by the DL or MLBs, but DBs and outside LBs.

HArson also likes to balance his offense so they are going to throw a lot too and try to be 50/50 on pass/run, while Gus could be anywhere over 60% run.
