I dont want him at AU. But Freeze at a big 6 school would be an issue.

For laughs. Rumors are Muschamp will be fired. Gus lost to him

Ideal scenario:

Boom gets fired
Sexton gets Gustav hired at SC and takes Chad with him
Cristobal gets hired at AU
Steele retires
Boom gets hired as DC at AU
Profit

I disagree. 2014 was probably the worst defense I’ve ever seen in an Auburn uniform. They gave up 30+ points in 7 games. Muschamp took over a very untalented defense and dropped that number to 3 games of giving up 30+ points, and didn’t have an amazing offense to bail him out.

Plus he brought in some serious talent.

I’m happy with Steele and think he’s one of the best in the business, but I also think Muschamp was a definite factor in changing our defense around.

Every year, the hot name from the previous year evaporates. Very few "hot names" make it 3 years.

Was just thinking this.

Fleck had a good year last year after making the move up from a G5 a couple of seasons before - he may deserve a pass on this cluster of a season. But many of the other “flavor of the month” HCs have struggled (or failed completely) in recent years.

Scott Frost (still think hes a good HC, just in a bad situation)
Tom Herman
Chad Morris
Justin Fuente
Willie Taggert

In fact, the only highly-touted G5 HC I can think of with a track record of success in P5 in this millennium was Urb.

ETA: Might be able to add Brian Kelly as one who’s succeeded consistently at a higher level, though not nearly as much as Meyer.

Your weekly reminder the Freeze is still undefeated, 8-0. He's a proven winner everywhere he goes, he has some baggage but wins puts it further behind him.
