So lets hire the Troy coach who beat LSU at home who we lost to. Sounds like he would be a candidate.

Yeah, you kind of missed the point entirely.

You can talk yourself into diminishing any coach in the country. A lot of you are stooping to "Nick Saban is only good because he cheats and the NCAA lets him cheat" territory.

Its like me saying "Nick Saban? Anyone can win at Alabama, and he lost to both Chizik and Malzahn. We can do better".

And thats my entire point. Mario Cristobal is definitely interested in coaching here; but that requires the people who make that decision to step back themselves.

And I agree with you: the next coach will NOT be someone connected, because quite frankly, I don't think we can afford another clown-show hire.

Now I can agree. And it helps that JJ(with Dye's influence) are not involved either, with that Auburn tie scenario.

Ofc, I think it won't happen this year anyway, as it looks like to me Gus is going to find a way to win 2-3 more games to give the admin and PTB a reason to not let him go in a COVID year.

No im not. I think you are. And Im not trying to be a dick brother. Im just trying to show you how your If A beats B and B beats C then A is better than C example.

If we are going to use wins as a measure then lets use the first step of wins. Head to head. And we know how that went

Im not saying MC is not a good coach or a good candidate for Auburn. He could be. Im just asking is this the guy you want to write a 30 million dollar check to get? Plus pay hi 5 mil or so to come here on top of that

I dont think his resume is that good compared to what he will be facing here. He could be the next Saban but he has not won anything of measure to say that he is going to do a better job than what we have.

Dude lost a 17 point fourth quarter lead to a coach with a 6-42 record... yikes.

Gotta consider Jamey Chadwell. Coastal Carolina kicking arse, and he’d probably come cheap.

Don’t know a lot about him other than CC’s record this year. Stops at a lot of smaller schools.

Was just reading up on Chadwell and decided to check out the coach prior to him at Coastal.

Joe Moglia is worth a Google. Coached ball for a few years, left coaching in the 80's. Worked his way up to be an executive with Merrill Lynch and eventually the CEO of TD Ameritrade. Retired and started coaching ball again.

We need to keep an eyeball or two on Greg Schiano

We don't have a Clay Travis to save us from Schiano.

Maybe Barkley would speak up. Lol.

I waited until today so as to give the team its due, but this is a bump to this thread because if anyone thinks Saturday’s win is a reason to keep Gus, they really don’t want what’s best for Auburn Football in the long run.

We will not win championships with this guy. Bottom line. Fire Gus.

I have always been a wait and see kinda guy with regards to coaches. I don't think it's fair to judge an incomplete body of work during the season, I always want to wait to see the finish. However, in Auburn's case, we have enough of a body of work to see solid trends. The trends remain unbroken this season and there's no evidence that we are breaking them in the future. I respect the job Gus has done with the program and really wish he could have been the guy, but I just don't see it.

I don't see Auburn making a move this year, however.

Pretty much sums up my view as well.

Ideally AU would win out, and Sexton would push AU for a contract extension and a raise for Gustav, with a threat to take his talents elsewhere if he doesn't get it - and Greene would have the support of the BOT to call their bluff. But I don't see that happening.
