Our schedule is too damn tough this year to be fricking around like this. Downplay it if you want, but Lawson and RT are the biggest hitters on our defense. Both are nasty and love to knock dicks in the dirt.

I can name 3 plays in last year's iron bowl the two made that were big time hits in critical situations. We lose if Lawson doesn'tcrush yeldon twice on third and short.

We have to improve on D this year, period.

I'm pissed.

Losing Therezie hurts but if Garret stays healthy we will be fine. The Lawson injury has always been the one that seems would hurt too much as we don't have any other explosive pass rushers right now.

It's hard for me to panic at this moment though as we are still going to be explosive on offense and guys like McKinzy, Wright, and Garret have me excited about a tougher defense.

We will all feel better once we see team get out here and take care of business

Holsey may be the biggest loss if he can't go. We don't have anyone proven behind Mincy and Jones. PM said today though that Jones is the best true cover corner we have so that eases the pain a bit.

AUgirl who is solid with insider info posted that Marshall is suspended for the 1st half of the Arky game.

No big shocker that's kind of what I expected. PM says to get ready for a very vanilla offense. Doesn't think the staff will take too many chances with JJ. Lots of handoffs.

F that. We're not watching JJ to see him hand it off. Air that b*tch out.

Gus gotta have some Air Raid in that offense somewhere.

I agree with this. RT will be the bigger loss simply because of depth.

Ellis Johnson is a hell of a coach, though. He is tremendous at putting together a game plan and is an even better in-game coach. Now that the players have had over a full year with him the defense will improve, but we all know lack of depth can make even the best defenses look average.

Would anyone here dare take a stab at what our starting line up for Arkansas will be based on what we know now?

With the recievers Auburn has coupled with Arkansas pass defense I would love to see Auburn throw the ball deep the first half.

I will give it a shot. This is my guess at who takes the field first for both units

QB - Jeremy Johnson
HB - Cameron Artis Payne (my bet is Payne gets first carry, no info to back just a guess)
HBack - Brandon Fulse
WR - Sammie Coates
WR - D'Haquille Williams
TE - CJ Uzomah
LT - Shone Coleman
LG - Chad Slade
C - Reese Dismukes
RG - Avery Young
RT - Patrick Miller

DE - Gabe Wright
DT - Angelo Blackson
DT - Ben Bradley
DE - Elijah Daniel (Owens has missed time with infection or would have him as starter)
MLB - Cassanova McKinzy
OLB - Kris Frost
Star - Justin Garrett
CB - Jonathan Jones
CB - Josh Holsey
SS - Derrick Moncrief (I think he retakes starter over Ford)
FS - Jermaine Whitehead

K/P - Daniel Carlson

KR - Corey Grant, Ricardo Louis
PR - Quan Bray

Oh hellz yeah! I smelling some KOs ran back for TDs again this year. Louis may not be able to catch, but he is dangerous with the ball in his hands. I'd also like to see Truitt get a shot.

Oh ya I definitely see some TDs there. Louis also gives Grant a physical lead blocker on returns.

I don't think Truitt will get a chance to show his return abilities this season but he is my frontrunner pick for punt returns in 2015

Garrett, IMO, has always been the guy that Ellis J WANTED to be at Star. He would've started ahead of Therezie last yr if he wasn't hurt. If Garrett stays healthy we'll be absolutely fine there. If not, we may have a problem.

I think that the corner spot is the biggest concern on the D. I think we'll get pass rush from the inside out this yr instead of off the edges like last year. Our DT unit is as good as any in the country from a depth standpoint and pass rushing.

We have potential to be better as a unit but it is a huge wildcard. Holsey still is recovering and Mincy is no Davis. I am hoping Trovon Reed is as good/better than advertised by coaches

I disagree with the bolded part. Our pass rush will come from blitzing and it will be scary good. I think we are going the way of FSU from last year in that we put out a DL that is 285+ across. This massive front 4 at DL will allow the LBs and S/Star to blitz without being as concerned about the Run

We will most assuredly get better pass rush up the middle this year than last. CEJ says Cass is as good as anyone coming off the edge. Especially now that he has learned the entire Blitz package. Kennion is going to get some looks as well. Lambert is going to surprise a few people with his speed at his size.

Holsey is starting as of now. He has some nagging issues from his surgery, but no new injury. Also IMO Moncrief to retake the starting spot before too long.

Lanier, I was just playing devil's advocate, as a Posi to all the Negas .

The package I am most excited to see is Kennion and Cass on the edges with Wright and Daniel inside. That's gonna be tough to handle on 3rd and long for opposing OL. If Cass has a big year rushing the passer along with MLB will be interesting to see where he projects for NFL

I am pumped Holsey is back. Kid is a ballplayer and having him and Jones gives us some of the fastest corners I can remember recently. I agree that Moncrief is the eventual starter there. He has the better size for the boundary safety position. Ford in my mind makes a lot of sense at free safety with his speed.

I am beyond ready for some football. Having a hard time focusing and getting in work done Two more weeks...

I would hope so. Our DL will have respectable sack numbers but I am looking for Therezie/Garrett, Cass or others to have some ridiculous sack numbers. With a 290+ DL it is near impossible for an OL to pick up blitzing players

Pretty sure that was my piont by saying he is still recovering

Ford is a weird case. Freak athleticism but no position open for him to use it

I think Johnson said Moncrief missed practice due to an illness or something like that and Ford moved ahead of him. My guess is that's just Johnson trying to motivate these guys to play through pain, etc. Maybe Ford's the better player though, I don't know. Either way, it's nice to know that we have two guys at that spot that Johnson thinks could be the starter. A 2 deep of Moncrief/Ford and Matthews/Boston or Roberts next year would be nice.

The Moncrief statement wasn't in response to anything you said. Someone mentioned "if he was available" like he had a new injury. Was just clarifying.

We need real games! Everyone is getting chippy just talking about our team, with our fans. Like practicing against teammates, I'm ready to hit somebody new!!

Guess we will Grant field the ball and then pitch it back to Louis for the return?
