I think we should come out looking to run it down their throats Saturday. Tire them out and then look for open shots in the passing game.

DGAF about how we win ..... only that we continue winning.

If the stats aren't to your liking, then change your priorities .....

I'll see if you have that same energy when Oklahoma shuts down our running game and we can't complete a pass down field to save our lives.

Got a feeling we'll wish we been working on it against these last two cupcakes.

We throw the ball downfield 20+ yards on 11% of snaps. Which is the SEC average. Plus we are completing overall about 70% of our passes and that’s not adjusted completion percentage.

Just because everyone had in their mind we were going to hit 5 long touchdown throws each game doesn’t mean we don’t have a good passing game.

That's good stuff Corch but I don't think stats always tell the whole story. There is a difference between 20-21 yard passes that are maybe sideline and contended and 30 yard passes over the defender or over the middle to a streaking WR. I think we have seen a little more of the former than the latter with our offense. I may be wrong. I'd like to see the passing spread charts for our games if they are out there.

AU has always sucked at deep posts, fades, corner routes, etc. AU has always especially sucked at slants. There might have been exceptions here and there, but that's the general trend.

Watching UT and UGA, the UT offense was lighting up UGA with wide open receivers. And UGA always has athletes on D and maybe the best defensive coaches in the business.

Same with Baylor. I watched their SMU game. SMU was playing 2 high the whole time and Baylor's QB just split the seam over and over. (SMU did the same to them).

I dunno, it's like a curse.

Yea, we are also near the bottom in explosiveness on offense, even though our run game has been great. Passing wise, we are averaging 167 yards per game on 23 attempts with 16 completions per game. I don't think anyone would call that a good passing game. We've been efficient, but far from good. So, while our % of long plays is average, our sample size is towards the bottom so the overall # is very low.

The longest pass we have on the season is 32 yards. It is valid to point out the struggle there, Hugh has done so as well. It is a concern long term for the season, if things can't get opened up more. I'd like to see how we do if we start running more RPO. Been said in most of the game threads, but we really haven't tried much on O, things have been pretty vanilla. We will see this week if that changes.

Yes, it's just frustrating to "hope" we have more in the playbook when we face SEC defenses. I'd feel a lot better going in if we've seen more vertical plays.

Maybe we'll all be surprised.

I always think of an old Terry Henley story. Shug told them they were going to beat MSU with three plays. Terry raised his hand and said, Coach Jordan, we’ve only got 5 plays, what are we holding the other two back for?

I dont think Venables are going to let us just dink and dunk them to death. They will put pressure on the run game and short pass game and make Arnold go down field. That appeared to be what he did to Michigan and it worked.

Not seeing a lot of down field passing, especially across the middle, gives me a bad feeling about this game. It appears their defensive line is pretty good. It was be interesting to see if our offensive line can continue to make holes against a better DLine.

We have better receivers than Michigan but that does not matter if we cant get them the ball downfield.

Ok but did you account for Meatchicken starting a true Freshman? They may do that to Arnold but I think he has more starting experience & I think our WRs are a little better...Excluding Butterfingers TE.

Just watched this by “The Film Guy” YouTube link. It’s a good look at the Auburn offense against South Alabama, and Oklahoma’s defense against Temple.

Not feeling good about this. Seems like we've seen this play out way too often, where we don't get production from prized prospects for whatever reason.

With the supposed talent and coaching we have, we should have been able to hit at least a couple of post routes for TDs.

Seems like everything to Coleman has been a major effort where he has to to do 180 degree turns or all is a complete cluster.

We have not looked clean.

Maybe UA and UGA have had even that much more talent where they are choosing what 5 stars to play and we only have one or two.

Jackson Arnold will run like a beast and we will miss a field goal to lose ...still leaving the passing game a mystery

Or he doesn't catch a quick slant that hits him right in the hands. That has happened at least 5 times in 2 seasons.

He does get played differently by the defense than any other WR on the team. They beat the shite out of him and/or hold him like they love him throughout the game. One of the back shoulder fades against Baylor or Ball St., I though he made a half assed one handed attempt, but on replay you can see the DB locked onto his other arm. No flag.

Arnold is just gonna have to trust that Cam is able to go up and win against his man sometimes. Any DC worth his salt will take away the deep shots to Cam and go from there. At some point, we are gonna have to show at least the willingness to throw that a couple times a game to keep the defense backed off.

With the QBs we have had over the last 5 years and the offensive coaches we have had, we should probably cut Coleman a little slack and thank our lucky stars he came to AU.

The Cam slander is unfounded.
