I would assume they are finished. Napier and Steele have been available. Sark today. The other guys don't really seem to be options.

Since when did any of AU’s booster give a damn about the public opinion? Yet they suddenly started to care? No way.

If they wanted to hire Steele

If it's Napier then probably tomorrow too but Sark idk if they would do it tomorrow or after Bama's playoff game(s).

They’d annouce Sark as well. We can’t wait until their playoff game without a coach.

So you’re cool with Auburn firing Malzahn for $21mllion and our leadership has no clue who to hire next? And didn’t have anyone in line to replace $21 million man?
Old auburn fans are some of the worst.

Young'uns are just as bad. It's been 7 days and a lot of the coaches we're looking at are still having to actively coach their kids for their respective bowls.
Y'all just chill. Understand in the message board and Twitter age a single second is agony, but relax.

If only there was years of film for these guys to look at and determine who would be a good coach.
It’s absolutely amazing to me they can a guy ($21mil Malzahn), and then form a search committee because they know nothing about sports.

You don’t hire a guy the day after you fire the guy before.
Even if you have a guy picked out already. Doesn’t happen

Sounds like the guy was picked out, Steele. So maybe it's a good thing we haven't announced a coach yet.

I'm not sure how much stock I put into that right now. There's a lot of sound, fury and stupid bouncing around.

Personally, I agree. Just saying that if there was a quick plan to announce a coach, then maybe we would not like the results. My odd way of saying, "relax, just let it play out".

Saban was hired on January 3. USCe took time before hiring this year. Last year Ole Miss, MSU, Arkie and Mizzou all took time. None promoted a current coach on staff.

You should interview for the Auburn job, then. If history is any indication, you'd get the job, and your buyout would be epic...

If we pay 21 million to get Sark as our head coach, Auburn has failed.

You know one thing that has struck me as odd about all of this...
No communication to boosters/donors during this time (at least at my piss poor giving level). Maybe it's because of Covid. Maybe it's the time of year. But in the past when a coach (at least football/basketball level) has been fired, there was an email sent out from the AD thanking them, recapping the successes, but also saying that Auburn is looking for more.
But unless it got caught up in my spam blocker, there has been noting from AG or anyone in the AD about letting Gus go, or about the search, or anything.

Pam reporting Billy is the leader and will get an offer. Said Steele and Sark have not met with the committee. The committee is three people for the interview.
Interviews have been conducted by three of those committee members - athletics director Allen Greene, university COO Gen. Ron Burgess and trustee Quentin Riggins, a former All-SEC Auburn linebacker. The roles of the other five members are uncertain.
