Ron impressed me. I severely doubted him but our red zone defense was pretty good.

Ron Roberts is the attacking DC we’ve been missing since 2017. I love seeing Asante blitz. That dude looks like he’s being shot out of a cannon. Kauffman has flourished in this new defense too.

Eugene Asante might be the best player on the team. I swear there must be 2 of them because he was everywhere.

jt is correct, a lot of uncertainty by Thorne.

Its not play calling. Did you not hear Freeze in that sideline interview after the 1st quarter. Sometimes in anger the truth comes forth. He said we were not making the right calls..."he threw it to the wrong side of the field twice". At halftime he then told the reporter if Thorne did not tighten up he would not be in there long.

I dont think he was using a 2 QB system, I think he was so frustrated with Thorne's indecision he was putting Ashford out there.

You start Geriner against Samford and the whole team will rally around him, they know he is the best passer. Unfortunately that next 3 game run they will blitz him constantly....but would it be any different with the other two, they havent proven they can pass regardless of their experience.

Meta, I noticed that with "too tall" as well. I think the coaches are "willing" him to be good when it aint there yet. Put Britton back out there yow have four people who can play guard.

Watching the Bucs play the Vikings. Its amazing how violent the NFL is compared to college.

I wonder how any player makes it a full season without dying. It hurts just watching

What I despise is everyone assuming our opponents are better than us with damn near zero knowledge of those other teams actual personnel.

I know others did not have a mass exodus and infusion of players thus their rosters are more stable. I also know plenty about a lot of the teams that will beat Auburn. This is SEC football I am talking about here. It's not like we are talking about players and rosters I have never heard of before.

He is so fun to watch. If he keeps up the production, All American status may be in his future

Hunter sure picked a bad time to get suspended. Alston (sans the fumble) looked good and Cobb very good (Malzhan would be proud a true freshman RB who can pass block). Battie isnt too shabby either.

Maybe Cal is just good again. They drubbed North Texas on the road, and Cal clearly talented. They have been down a few years but are a historically difficult out. They lost 4 or 5 games against top competition last year by 7 points or less. Maybe we should just relax and let it play out. I’m optimistic.

That dumbass threw the ball directly to a cal player on the most obvious throw away play all game.

Please stop giving your opinion on anything.

Sure I can. I can name 5 Georgia receivers easily.

I can damn near name bama's whole secondary

Arkansas skill position players

I would start Thorne against Samford but have Holden start the second half. Holden should be qb2 even if Robbie has packages. If Thorn struggles or gets hurt, Hole. Should be next man up assuming he is making the right reads. Ashford is just not a good passer and a liability

Hunter doesnt take care of the football when he runs. Very frustrating. Cobb was very impressive in this limited touches. Hope he gets more

I was calling for Ashford in the game thread but that one play made me say never again.

Cant fault you for calling for Ashford. Thorne's play demanded a change, yet it wasnt the change we were looking for

that throw to the Cal defender by Ashford was really bad. Thorne was pressing the entire game. If Thorne doesnt get control over his fear, he will continue to struggle

I would agree with you if not for.........

Torne started out hot garbage. At the end of the first quarter, Thorne threw two straight first down throws. The quarter ends and Ashford starts the second. Runs the series and we punt in a hurry.

Sorry, that makes zero sense.

It was a poorly called game on the O side of the ball.

ETA I saw a lot of the same stubbornness I saw in Gus. Kind of concerning.

True.

There IS potential for Thorne, but he plays scared in the pocket and makes costly mistakes way too often. If he played less scared (and bizarre), we probably win this game by around one or two scores

We’re going to be 3-3 after A&M, Georgia, and LSU.

If we can steal two games against Ole Miss/Arkansas/Mississippi State we’ll get to 6-6 and make a bowl game.

You think Vandy beats us in Nashville? If they do, we have no prayer of beating any of the above named three and have no shot at 6-6.

2-0 now. Beat Samford and New Mexico state gets us to 4 wins. Vandy gets us 5. Arky or MSU are probably the better chances to get us 6 and maybe 7.

I gave up at halftime last night, but going back and looking at highlights, Thorne showed flashes - the 3rd & 17 with about 9:30 left in the game was a great pass. If he could just be consistent on throws like that he won't be a world beater, but he won't be horrible either.

I dont care to discuss the potential of Thorne after the performance last night. Maybe one night when he plays like a gamer I will, but today discussing that seems like a big ole waste of time.Another thing- his wide receivers did not seem to help him out either except for the one third down grab by Fairweather.I guess the receivers were not running to green grass because the QB was not finding open receivers. Jay fair seems to be the WR1 since
Shane Hooks completely disappeared.

Lastly, I dont know that he has a lot of ootential just because of his high turnover propensity. He tends to throw into feast and famine in the same game. I dont think he can correct the turnovers without the TDs also dipping.

247 team talent composite for those wanting to check it out.

LINK

Georgia L
Bama L
A&M L
LSU L
--------------------
Ole Miss L
Arky push. Their rushing offense is weak.

I dont think we beat Ole Miss even though we out talent them. They have some veteran talent at the skill position and if our offense is not chugging along then I dont know why would be able to expose them.
