How much money does she stand to garner in settlement?
Doesn't take much, people will kill for less than a weeks pay, and the guy after him could have done it. There's only a couple who truly know unless it was a group affair. And yes she might be as pure as the driven snow before they met. Just a lot of what if's right now.
I'm still at a presumption of innocence for Simmons, but it seems like a lot of people here are more at a presumption of innocence for Malcolm and a presumption of guilt for his girlfriend.
Apply Occam's razor. Police are summoned on a DV call. They arrive to find the girlfriend with bruises on her neck. Simmons is arrested on claims that he strangled and smothered her in an argument. What is the simplest explanation; that is, the one that requires the least number of assumptions?

If we were going by simplest assumption Simmons would already be gone.

Shouldn't we be focused on what is the factual explanation?

That somebody is lying.
And that jumping to unknown conclusions could as likely be: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Because that's the other side of Mr. Occam's thought. So why are you so quick to judge? Me, I simply want more before penalizing him or her because one is the victim. To just distill this a bit more before offering penalization.
It's not as if we're trying to get another game out of him, before sitting him against a nobody, and it's summer so we have the luxury of time.

Where are y'all seeing that she's not pressing charges? Yesterday, AL.com reported that there will be a preliminary hearing on 8/13. If she's not pressing charges, why would there be any further court action?
The decision to prosecute is not hers. It factors strongly into the decision, but it’s up to the prosecutor.

In that case, the prosecutor will be under enormous pressure to drop the case.

He is supposedly suspended and not able to work out at Auburn facilities.

This is evidently an under the radar suspension. I've read the same from one of the beat guys on 247

Ah the super secret double suspension.

Did you know Cam was suspended for a day before the NCAA cleared him

Auburn coach Gene Chizik told reporters on a conference call on the same day Newton was quietly ruled ineligible that he would play against Georgia. About 24 hours later, Newton was reinstated by the Tigers,

Yes. It was well known at the time. They suspended him because it forced the NCAA to make a decision instead of dragging things out.

Saw something today where he posted a picture of his New Jersey and pads. I assume if accurate he’s back.

Are y’all dementia patients? Newton being suspended was all over the news. ESPN had it on their ticker - that’s where I first saw it breaking. It was a brilliant strategic play by AU as well

Grok:
Initial brief suspension: Auburn compliance officials verbally informed the NCAA about Newton's suspension on November 10, 2010, ahead of a game against Georgia. Auburn coach Gene Chizik publicly stated that Newton would play in the game on the same day he was ruled ineligible, suggesting the suspension wasn't immediately publicized. Newton was reinstated about 24 hours later.
