I generally have always felt like it's unlikely we do much better, but I do believe we have reached a point where a change is necessary.

Probably. He made his big mistake in 2015 when he changed offense. Im not sure if that was his ego or from outside pressure. He should have never when away from what he knows how to do. This offense that we are running is not him and he knows it.

Problem is, its too late to change back and he will just have to ride it out till he is fired. He is not getting any breaks right now and some of that is his fault and some is not. Nix is very very bad. Some of that may be on Gus but a lot of it is on Nix. The blocking was bad tonight as was some of our receivers.

But ultimately, all that his on him and he need to be gone for it. Like it or not. Auburn will fire him soon and burn it all to the ground and start over. Will be interesting to see how that works out for them

Lanier is usually a good sport in his stances. You guys could take notes. It would help drive actual conversations versus chippy personal statements.

But that’s the Aubie board. Hot takes or you’re a pussy

I was wondering in the 3rd quarter when I realized how we'd lose and that it'd be the same old issues when it was all said and done...but in 2013 after LSU who had the idea to go toward a more zone read/run heavy 70% offense. Was it Gus or another assistant? I know Gus made the final call but who looked at the tape and realized first what we had with Nick?

Who knows. The fact that he has been unable to run this style of offense should have made him switch back but he continued to recruit to it and that is on him.

So many thought "people had figured out" his offense but that is just bull. It was just as good at the end of 2014 as ever. Should have never changed. Ultimately, it was his biggest mistake

That is you

Gus doesn't deserve what he has been handed. He's done nothing with it with unlimited resources.

Why are you defending him?

And You call me a troll?

Lanier, this is where you have always been wrong. He had players that fit a different offense, but he could never fully commit to change the offense. His offense, especially his passing concepts, are out dated. Nix has his issues, but Gus makes it way harder on him than it should be. Had he committed to a modern, spread, ball control passing attack, his last few QBs would have fared much better.

I just dont understand why you would go away from what was a totally dominate offense that pretty much no defense could slow down. Maybe because if was different but it was dominate. He will never be dominate running what we are doing now. He does not know how to run that type of offense well enough and it is obvious.

If he doesnt have a QB running threat, he can not be dominate. Sure there could be some plays to help Nix but no play is going to help some of the mistakes Nix is making and making on a regular basis.

He recruited to this offense and has since 2015. I think that is where it went wrong for him.

Gus supporters keep asking who we're supposed to get.

To me it doesn't matter. That's on the AD and President to figure out. Obviously we're not going to hire Nick Saban or Urban Meyer so you roll the dice and hope for the best. Hope being the important word.

Some guy behind a keyboard doesn't have any idea what all's moving behind the scenes in college football therefore it's a ridiculous question to ask of him.

But the point is that there's no hope left with Gus. I miss at least having hope. A new coach would bring, at least, hope.

Having said all that, it's moot until the buyout is affordable.

Does that make you on or off the bus?

That's the 28 million dollar question?

I honestly think it's his ego. He didn't like being pigeonholed as someone who had to have a running QB and set out to prove his offensive genius.

In the end, I don't understand keeping a HC that was hired because he was a supposed offensive guru when the offense is probably the worst in the conference.

I don't think it is easy to find players that can run an offense that way. Cam was a generational talent and Nick Marshall was the best zone read QB ever. Those guys are rare.
