Interestingly enough, I'm not sure what the competitive advantage is in the situation. As best as I can tell was people using these players for personal gain.

This a legit reason to think some serious discussions are going on regarding his employment. In the past, it was always JJ who was the official speaker on these matters. He also signs off on all coaching hires I believe.
There was also a Twitter profile who claimed he has been fired... The same profile leaked the news of cowart's release a day before most sources.
